One boob == 963,000 FCC complaints

Ars Technica looks at FCC complaints over the last 4 years, and finds that FCC complaints come in "spikes", usually driven by groups like the PTC who encourage all their members to send in complaints much like the VGVN encourages letter writting campaigns every time a new law is proposed.
They used as an example the "wardrobe malfunction", and found how it accounted for 693,080 complaints at the end of the quarter following the SuperBowl, followed by 270,000 complaints at the beginning of the next quarter. By mid 2004, the number had fallen to 835.
The article also takes issue with the PTC's "Family Friendly" picks & criteria, and states that although they are "safe" in terms of having no swears or sexual jokes, the content of the shows picked was so mind-numbingly bland you wouldn't want your kids to grow up watching it anyway...
