Ok, I just heard this story via an email, so I dunno if there was any news on it about a lawsuit or anything.
Anyway, a family went to a Wal Mart and got a Zune media player for their twelve year old daughter. They opened it and pressed the play button to make sure it worked, and it was loaded with porn.
I'm jsut tryign to figure this one out.
Theory?

While it is somewhat believable, the fact that it was through email makes it suspicious, especially if it hasn't been on the news or anything else like that. For all you know, it could be some sort of slander campaign or something like that. Who knows who it could've originated from.
Always be wary of email "news". That may be just as true as that Nigerian prince who wants me to take all his money.

Still funny as hell. :D

Reminds me of a local news story from last Christmas, where a woman bought an I-Pod or something for her son, and he opened the box, only to find *GASP*...
A rotten slab of steak.
Big ol' WTF, there.

I guess Wal-Mart does not clear out the hard drives on the things before re-selling them. I haven't heard of a 'Zune' media player. I must be 'out of touch' or something.

Very WTF indeed.
Either a bad joke or they have something against IPOD or the store it was bought from. Who knows?

Zune (http://www.zune.net/en-US/) is Microsoft's response to the iPod.

Ok I get it. It's a mp3 player, that does more than play mp3s right?

Damn! (for $500 that better be some astronomicly good pizza sauce.) It's going to make the return/complaint rather....interesting.

Pretty much. MS basically copied Apple's entire vertical distribution model, but messed up the software to get it running.

Yep,
the catch is nothing you have downloaded already will work, you can only buy the content from Microsoft's download service

It doesn't work with playsforsure files, but I believe it does unprotected AAC and MP3's.

Ouch.
I'll be sticking to using my psp as a mp3 player. (which I'll be doing more when I buy a bigger memory stick. I've been listening to the music off of my Vice City Stories game. I love 1980's music.)

I've already got an iPod, and iTunes is my favorite music player anyways, so bam.

And I already have a lyra which can play all the music I have already. All I need is a 1 gig SD card and bam, I can fit my entire music folder.

I've got 3.78 gigs in aac, so a flash player isn't really an option.
