Move the thread if you like but don't lock it until it actually has something objectionable.
At any rate, I could see some games getting released in the US. Three Sisters Story would be awesome as a DS game if it got expanded a bit. I can't think of any other titles since its been a while for me, but it's not inconcievable for titles released here to sell a few thousand copies, at least making a profit over the cost of localizing it.
What do you folks think?

THe mai nproblem I see is restricted selling. Iknow Gamestop wouldn't touch it, as it's AO by default, FYE may but with different packaging.

A lot of H-games do get localized, uncensored(!), and brought over, they're just sold through alternative outlets. In fact, if you look at the listing of AO games on the ESRB website, you will find that a good number of them are hentai games, and I've seen others for sale online that bear an unofficial version of the rating.

Yeah, I just wish they'd do a commercial with Tony Danza. "AO OA, AO games is not OK for kids, eh angela?!".
I'm just throwing it out, will there come a time when Americans are ready to enjoy H-games purchased from...say...Borders? Any major national retailer? Best Buy with a room with beaded curtains?

I can't see it really getting totally accepted State Side, there are actually a few adult games but generally they don't sell that well. Plus it would really hurt the games are not porn argument! I mean if people can't identify that a game about street criminals with a big M sticker is not for children how are they going to cope with a nice little cartoon game!

I wouldn't be a good idea, at least not now, to mainstream(or at least what would be considered mainstream for explicit stuff) H-games. Timing would also play a factor, if they did it now the anti-game watchdogs would flock to this like flies to ****. I mean it would have everything they would ever hope to have, A cartoons/anime video game(remember cartoons and video games are for kids) with nudity and in the extreme cases, some pretty bloody violence. So any kind of mainstream, even in adult stores, would probably draw someones attention at this stage.

Well I'm not sure because who would attack them? Jack Thompson wouldn't care because they're not released by take-two, NIMF is irrelavent because politicians won't associate with them since they said parents are made of fail, maybe the PTC would have **** fits but does anyone care about them?
Depends on how we measure popularity. I have a feeling they are insanely popular, but no one ever buys them, because, to be quite honest, most of them do amount to animated gifs with sound. They're probably almost exclusively downloaded.
Plus, it would instantly get the AO mark. This however gets interesting when you take a look at Europe.
Over here, many games got rated 18, including San Andreas, and still get sold everywhere. I think the distinction between a game rated 18 and an H-game rated 18 is that the 'regular' game was rated 18 for certain 'themes'. In the H-game, you can hardly call them 'themes'; they are the purpose of the game. The reasonable thing to do is to approach it like movies. Many movies have explicit themes, but because these are not the movie's central focus, they can still get away with the 16 rating (which is the highest movie rating. 18 is reserved exclusively for porn where I am). Porn however, in case you didn't know, is porn, meaning it caters to another audience, and is more appropriately sold in a store that has at least a section for this audience. This is where you would find the H-games too.

Mmmmm, so here's another problem you bring, the production values are pretty low so even without censorship h-games need to have higher production values to suit people's interests. Of course, we have found out from Katamari and misc others that good games can still sell well. So could animated gifs+text ever be epic enough to sell for....$10 or so? Pheonix wright is pretty simple but it is awesome.
I guess it depends on your mentality. I hate paying for fap material. Others might not. Considering pay sites still exist, those 'others' are a large group.

I have seen and tried a couple h games with #d graphics that do ok. I won't post any links though, as that'd be agasint forum rules, but the games were pretty well done ,but can't work on a consoel as they are best played with a mouse.

So prolly as a ds or wii game they'd be good. Actually, wii makes a lot of sense since it also vibrates and has a speaker. The applications for this should be obvious since it is also phallic.

It's this simple: Where there's money to be made, there's a market. Someone will pick up on it if they think they can made money on it.

The entire genre of anime isn't all that popular over here in and of itself. Anime porn won't get popular for a while, if ever.

Look at the state of PRON its coming along well,Hentai is not to far behind however even in 10 years you still wont be able to be it at the mall or the corner store,Pron store maybe...
I think either the hentai industry or the porn industry will start porting over games and stuff in in 3-6 years in the attempt to amke it a normal thing, will it work who knows the US is so screwed up and all it takes is a few like minded poli's to screw things up for the rest of us.
Glenn Beck will have a field day if they do.

Glenn Beck. Conservative radio host. Has a show on CNN.
He had a week word of segments attack the porn industry and saying how the US has an addiction to pornography.
Last thing we really need at this time is hentai games being released and adding fuel to the games as porn fire.

Ehh. I think a lot of it depends on content. Some H games are fairly benign, mushy romance dating sims. Then you have the "Sexy beach" style games.
These you could get away with, fairly simple stuff production varies wildy from 2d gifs, to fully rendered 3d.
Then you get into the weird stuff. Games like battle raper. Weird ass stuff sometimes. Fighting game, then you rape you defeated opponent. This stuff would cause a **** storm. I don't see stuff like that game ever being accepted over here.
That is what i get for hanging around a bunch of rich japanophiles. Strange bunch they are.

I watched some of the segments....silly creature he is,dosn't seem to understand what happens when you band things you dislike or that are "addictive" and wholly dose not understand the danger going back to the 50's era of sex is bad and the fake world the 50's was about.

Actually now that I think about it. Go look at newgrounds, they have H-game style games galore there. That may not be proof of the popularity, but enough people like them that some of them are award winners on the site for views and such.

unlike rush I can agree with Beck the trouble is hes only agreeable 5-15% of the time the rest of it he's off in 50's never never land 0-o
his take on shame and bringing back the stigma of the 50's is asinine t dose more harm than good sex and the liking of sex is part of life to better deal with it we must not ignore it and shame it and create issues galore out of it.
however I can agree to just abotu anything he has to say abotu Islam/middle east.

The funniest part is that as porn has become more freely available, the rate of sexual assaults has gone down. One major theory is that since it's easier to hide that you've been surfing porn than hiding magazines from your parents, the incidents where young people get stupid about it have dropped.

Does this include the "almost raped" crowd? You know the kind. The ones who squeal when you look in their general direction. Or if you ASK them for directions anyway.

It's hard to say whether I would support AO rated games in general being sold in mainstream stores. Clearly, the genre of Adult porn based games should only be sold in adult specialty stores. But what about the non-porn AO rated games? I mean, let's say GTA SA AO rated format. Clearly, there's an overall storyline there that exceeds the limited porn story plot. So, do such games as those actually amount to M rated Uncut versions as opposed to the implied AO = porn genre?
I support extreme hardcore AO games being made and available. Not merely limited to the lame porn story plots but they can be as intricate or simple as one wants with any possible ability. My own fantasy game would be along these lines:
http://www.gamespot.com/pages/profile/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-23328281&user=nightwing2000
Now, of course, that's an extremely rough draft. Still, it allows users to create their own situations and share whatever extreme idea they can think of.
The few H-games I've seen are about on par with a simple porn story plot. Very little playability. We've heard of adult MMOs, but a single player game is also welcome.
I mean, fantasy isn't reality, so why limit one's self in a fantasy world?
I don't think they would be a big sell when limited to adult stores. Online might be a different story. I think one of the selling points that would increase sales is to go beyond the current H-game design and make them more intricate than what they are now.

AO is stigmatized what they need to do is finish building the ratings structure 3 levels for kids 2 levels for teens and 2 levels for adults
Kids level
Non violent kids 6 and under K2-6
Cartoon Violence for kids,kids K6+
Mature themes for kids (RPGs like FF3/6) K10+
Teen level
T13+ for teens equals out to what PG13 moives are
T16+ for older teens this equals out to a basic R rating
GOW could fit here however that sex mini game would put it over to 18
Most "detail less" ,"sexless" M rated games could fit here.
"Adult"
M18+ for violence and basic sexaul themes basically GTA with half nude striper's ,VMP:TM:BL,FEAR,detailed violence and basic nudity are welcome here.
AO 20+? (porn laws are funny,so by looking at how the age levels progress I took 18 and added 2 years)
This is for "porn" games or games based around nudity or sex, playboy tend to be R level hustler tends to be X level a hustler game would fit best here. a playboy game could go either way.
Romance games with nudity but blurred out genitals could easily fit into the M18+ 1 its more story than sex 2 the "sex" is censored in some way.
the way the system is now it cant handle exstream violent games, sex games or pron games......

Still has a lower rape count dosent it?
Groping goes with the whole male dominance thing I see the casualty there.
plus its not a "crime" makeing it easier for males to grope it would the same here in some instances if groping is not some form of assault.

It also goes with the fact that you're packed tighter than sardines on the trains.
You know what though, I have to give the girl the benefit of the doubt. Trains packed like sardines are quite infamous in Japan. I thought I'd been on a few packed trains in Osaka, but then I rode on the Yamanote in Tokyo one evening. No, no, no. For the first time in my life, I knew how all my toys felt when I used to stuff them in the closet to the point where the door wouldn't even close (He-Man: "Goddammit Megatron, get your foot outta my thong..."). Gaijin Perimeter or whatever went all out the window. I was in contact with no less than 11 people, 7 of whom I'm pretty sure I had sexual relations of some kind with. Some woman could come up to me and present a halfling baby and say it was mine, and if she was on the Yamanote that night I'd have no way of denying the possibility.
