Sweet.

Then again, it could be more bull**** the anti-Sonyites are spreading, much like the fearmongering over Sony's disc protection thingy that would only allow a game disc to work with your console.

I don't see them coming out with something exactly like the wiimote, but either way it's dissapointing since I'd hoped that the Wiimote would be an innovation that would inspire other companies to improve upon with their own ideas. Kind of like how the dual-shock revolutionized game pads. Then the xbox showed that game consoles could be the size of Rhode Island (kinda like the ps3 is now)....

The trollbait is supposed to be "That's it, Nintendo's finished".

Won't the controller further bump up the price of the console?

But they're Sony. They can do ANYTHING! **** PANTS!

Likely, if they do that it'll be a seperate sale item that they throw into a holiday pack to boost sales and get new players into it.

Conveniently packaged with some sort of Wii Play ripoff.

That'll look better and be more consistent through all the sports because they've had time to get it right.

Wii Play and Wii Sports aren't the same thing

I always kinda thought Wii Play was a by far superior version of every Eyetoy game Sony ever made.

Wii sports looks the way it's supposed to look. It's simple, clean graphics (plus you can use the Miis you create).
Even if Sony does make this, there's a few things that will give Nintendo an advantage:
1) It'll probably be a year before Sony's got theirs ready.
2) It's a peripheral. Those never take off because nobody's willing to make games for them.

Wii Sports and Play are really fun. Especially other peoples' Miis showing up. For example: Beta got abducted by aliens on numerous occassions.

EyeToy didn't do too badly, and other titles (like the new Who Wants To Be A Millionaire) are beginning to use the buzzers from Buzz!- I think it's only SingStar that's not getting anywhere.

My point is that for any given peripheral, there will only be a handful of games. Generally fairly simple ones, at that. Look at it this way. If you're a developer, would you rather create a program that any PS3 owner could play? Or one that uses their remote and only 10% of the PS3 owners can play? It's a bit extreme, but in most cases, making a game that requires a peripheral drastically cuts down you potential market.

PS2 hard drive: evidence that Sony hates all gamers, or just me?

2 games released in the US is not a lot of games afaik.

Unless you include it for the same price or a reasonable increase. Show of text, who has the Guitar Hero controller?

Which just goes to show how different the ps3 will be without 3rd party support. I mean, here's my periphrials for ps2:

Sony: hdd

Red octane: 2x gh controllers; 1x ddr pad.

I wouldn't own gh guitars unless they allowed me to play rock and metal though. If it were accordian hero it would not suit my interests.

And as long as they make a USB adaptor for them, I'll gladly pick up the PS3 version...

Unless they do something like the 360's with it's extra port and a new add-on that makes it more awesome...

What? Sony? Listening to consumers? Neeeeeeeh.

They've already released a USB Memory card adaptor. And if nothing else, Red Octane could put out an adaptor.

Which is stupid. They should have had ports for the memory cards and controllers under a flap somewhere anyways. Nintendo did this, why not copy that innovation? It would solve most of the problems the system has had with ps2 games.

Sony only copies innovations that could make them more money, not those that are convenient for the end user.

Which is true. It would have been economically minded to put on a regular power and eject button the PS3. Did they? No. It's a freakin touchpad, not a button. Odds are it's more expensive to put on, so they can jsutify the cost a little more.

I doubt its that, touchpads are very "in" right now. The Samsung Sync and the Motorola Chocolate both have touchpads, and in both cases they are freaking impossible to use. Yet they're very much in demand (the chocolate could be the next Razr, lets hope with better signal gain).

cute but without a attachment for the PSmote it wold be worthless for gaming.
I wonder how they would handle that if they made it like the WII mote and numbchuck Nintendo could sue, after all sony steals instead of buys/knock off.

I definitely see not only Sony making a PS3mote, but then claiming that they invented it first, and sue Nintendo into nonexistance
