BERLIN, Germany (CNN) -- A former student strapped explosives to his body and went on a violent rampage at a school in western Germany, shooting and wounding six people -- most of them students -- before killing himself, police said.
Police were able to evacuate several students before finding the man's body, rigged with explosives, on the school's second floor.
They were still working to defuse the explosives on Monday evening, local police chief Hubert Wimber told reporters.
Police sealed off the school in Emsdetten, a town of 35,000 near the Dutch border, to search the grounds. Dozens of students and parents, some of them crying, comforted each other nearby.
The 18-year-old had recently posted a farewell letter on his personal Web page saying he planned to kill himself in a spectacular way, Wimber said.

Actually I saw it and decided not to post it, guess I didn't care. In all honesty I though this waste of life should of just offed himself instead of taking others with him....coward. In situations like this I prefer if someone else takes them out and they somehow suffer before they die. Call me sick, call me twisted but this is what I believe and prefer to happen to people like this.

Give it time, someone will claim either Video Games inspired him to kill or it was the teachings of that chap that looks like charlie chaplin(I have seen reports that actually try to pin it on him because the person is German)

In fact, the one I expect is Dave Grossman, because we heard him a lot during the previous German school shooting (Erfurt, in 2002). But curiously he's been silent during the recent Montreal school shooting.
I think Grossman realized all violent games in Germany have green blood and zombies.

We have some more news (http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_5433.aspx) (I picked it from The Trenchcoat chronicles (http://www.thetrenchcoat.com/archives/1652-German-gunman-identified.html)).
So, the attacker "fit the typical stereotype of the school assassin" and "liked violent video games, always dressed in black and didn't have many friends."

0 !! It already started ! (at least in Germany)
This article (http://www.wdr.de/themen/panorama/21/schule_emsdetten/061120.jhtml?rubrikenstyle=panorama) refers to First-Person Shooters such as Doom, and this other article (http://www.tagesschau.de/aktuell/meldungen/0,1185,OID6112564_NAV_REF1,00.html) talks about the idea of banning "killer games", as a German minister proposed it (it also mentions that the shooter was a "Counter Strike fanatic").
Although these articles are German-speaking, you can try Google translator to have an idea of what they talk about.
