I had heard about the shooting over a ps3 earlier this week: http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/11/17/playstation.ap/index.html
Now there's an article in the local paper talking about another attempted robbery: http://www.tribstar.com/local/local_story_322222550.html
At least ths time the thief made it off worse than the owner. Since I know some people are going bat**** insane over both this and the Wii release, any other news of robberies/random fistfights in a store?

I think the Wii launch went off without much violence, but then again this is just where I live.
I'm thinking the PS3 launch is going to create a massive rise in the anti gaming community, and give Jack some straws to clutch at for the next week or so, immediately followed by Jack claiming the that the Wii teaches you how to fire a real gun.

Makes me scared to buy one now. Someone might try to kill me for mine.

One of my fears as well. I wouldn't bat an eyelash if he was patrolling lines looking for his next poster child.

The PS3 seemed to overshadow the WII.
Thus if any violence did happen for the wii, it proubly envolved poke'mon battles.

Well, we aready had a few articles about how wer'e all a bunch of lifeless failures because people were camping out for units. So I think we've got that covered.
Otherwise, yes, I'm windering how long it'll take somebody to give the 'wiimote as a gun' argument myself. I'm almost suprised nobody tried it already.
Actually, now that I think about it, doesn't anti-gaming normal rise up every year around Christmass anyway? you know babbling about how this year's games are more violent than ever and all that jazz?

Problem is that argument actually has merit since the Wiimote will have a Zapper attachment.

I'm sure that Jacky Boy himself has never fired any firearm before just because of that statement. First, because the Wiimote is held like a phaser, not a pistol.
Second, you'd have to be one of the primitive tribes of the rainforest not to know the basics of firing a gun.
Third, even then you need to get used to the recoil, fix any bad tendencies you develop before they become habit (such as jerking the pistol down with your trigger finger to try to compensate for recoil), and get to a range on a regular basis to constantly improve your skills. Or, just start pulling the trigger like the average gangsta and hit the little girl across the street behind and to the left of your target.

From what I have heard/seen the Wii lauch was very civil and I am happy to hear that. Now the PS3 of course you are going to have fights and **** happen. Every report I have seen of a fight/robbery/shooting has been all commited by either gang bangers or mindless thugs who had to beat the hell out of someone to prove they were a man and deserved a PS3 before anyone else. I am sad to say these pieces of **** are a portion of who play Playstation and X-box. They need to die in a fire and stop making the rest of us look bad.

Facts like those never stopped him before.
