I saw a Gears of War trailer that makes it look pretty violent, but am I wrong.

(realism in regards to how real the violence looks, not how plausible it is)

Depends on how you want to define violence, I mean Hitman: Blood Money is quite realistic in how people die with head shots or writhe around in agony if hit in the stomach...but in addition to that the main character can walk around covered in bullet holes and people tend to only complain if shot in the knees...Dark Messiah on the other hand has people responding to how they are attacked (knocked to the side etc) but it takes multiple hits with a broadsword to bring them down...Soldier of Fortune was quite realistic in how it showed damage to the models yet again you could kill someone by shooting them in the knees a few times.

And no matter what JT and his Ilk say GTA is one of the least realistic games I've ever seen.

most of the war games (medal of honor, full spectrum warrior, call of duty) are pretty real. They try to mimic previous wars or combat training.

You can rule out the Mortal Kombat series. One reason being, on average the human body has only about one pint of blood, in MK, they lose gallons.

Huh, I thought people spinning head over heels five times in a row every time they jumped backward or forwards was pretty realistic. What's next, you're going to tell me that martial arts tournaments don't have fighters who can breath fire or control ice, and that the result of the contest won't determine who controls the Outer Realms?
