So, after spending nearly fifteen minutes convincing one of my local Game Crazy employees to let me return the GC copy of Prince of Persia (after 30-something trys I still couldn't jump up the walls to get the Dagger of Time!) I bought yesterday, (If Suncoast will let me do it with DVDs, then game stores can let me return games...'specially if all they would've gotten was $12) I got thinking about all the similar crap I've heard about game stores and return policies. So, what are other forum members feelings and stories on this?

I had sorta something similar happen when I went to Gamestop last night. I need to return my broken DS[the upper screen is damaged, making it unplayable] and I didn't havhe the reciept. THe manager was perfectly willing to honor the warranty even so, but they didn't have any units in, so now I need ot call later this week to see if they did get more in. >.<

^ Thanks for reminding me - my X-Box is screwed up the ass, and I need to go make my local Gamestop honour thy warranty and thy receipt - my local ones are always good about that kind of thing.

Here's something we've all probably gone through before - a few weeks ago, I bought a used copy of Knights of the Old Republic. I take it home, I boot it up, and it's constantly hiccuping and freezing, until it gets to the first leveling up point (About three minutes in), where the disc quits spinning. So, I try again. The exact same things happen, and the disc dies at the same point. So, I take it out and look at it - it looks like someone threw the disc down and ground it into the bloody sidewalk. Seriously, there's fricking key-scratches on the disc. It's like someone taped it to a brick, drove by the store, chucked it through the window, and the guys who work there just put it in a display-case box. So, I take it back with half a mind to kick the chelloveck working the store right in the yarbles, and he actually says, and I quote, "Sorry sir, but this disc isn't really in bad enough condition for us to require for it to be refurbished."

Thankfully, I get a new copy either. But now, my X-Box is crapping out on me, on ALL my games. This has happened before, and I have my warranty, so I just need to take this dead old thing back up there (My local one though, NOT that crappy one I just told you about), plop it on the counter, and get a shiny, semi-new one.

The EB that I have been going to over the past year or so is great, people who work there know their **** and they are the kind of people who will talk to you for hours in the store about random ****. But it wasn't always like this, oh no. Sadly before it was built near my house I had to travel to the Brea Mall and shop at the EB there, the people in there were dicks, and not just dick stupid uninformed dicks. I mean you ask them about a game release or try to pick up a game you pre-ordered and they would look at you as if you were a ridden with disease. I tried picking up a game for the PS2, I think it was the original Smackdown vs Raw and I got **** from the cashier. Basically bagging on me because I had a PS2 and not an X-box "OMG X-Bawks ftw!" and then he asked me if I knew that wrestling was fake......your kidding right? This guy was ultra mega gundam retarded. Honestly the one thing that gets to me is when people in a game store don't know **** about what they are selling. Or the employ fan boys who bash on people who buy games for consoles that are not their console of choice.

Good one happened to me right AFTER I left for the United States a few days ago... I had preordered Warhammer: Mark of Chaos in like... oh... september. Game gets released November 11th, they call my roomate the day after I left (December 16th) to have me come pick it, or they'll put it on sales on monday. First, they never called before that day. Second, you preorder something yet they still want to sell it to someone else (even if you paid a deposit on it). I believe this is what I call... RETARDED.
