I scored the collectors ed for 17$,just got it today,just started it 2 min ago...and I already ant to kill the programmers
I am southpaw they have a southpaw mode...BUT.....the buttons are totaly FCKED
Crouch should be with MOVE,Zoom can be anywhere but not with MOVE,I wonder where they hide the USE button,cant seem to find the grenade button either....quite frustrating .... and already a -2 from 10,all games want to be 10,any FPS to not have full button mapping gets a -2 knee to the groin....as I play I shall post.
crouch should be a toggle.......
I would give a half my testis to swap the Dpad and y/b/x/a .....god these idiots have no forethought.....

Ok my rotted brain is now playign the game in a non south paw mode....I think I am cured ><
anyway I am still getting the hang of it now I have come to another problem...AUTO aim keeps fcking with my aim...I want to kill the arse hole that thought lets make auto aim NOT A OPTION.....fcking MORON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hear gears of war is not a ful button mapped FPS either *gets out a bat and some TNT* moronic devs....

Strange that you're having so much trouble - my 'friend' (who I can't stand) brought Halo 2 over last week, and, after never having played a Halo game in all my life, and it being at least a year since I last played an FPS, I was pwning his sorry ass after five minutes.
Needless to say, I thought the controls were hella easy to master. Then again, it was probably more a matter of him simply being a no-talent jackass, than me actually being good; he's constantly talking up his 'mad skilz' about every-single-thing, but when I play him on them, it feels like I could get a better-played game out of my six-year-old brother.

now that I got most of the control issues dealt with now its time tiem once again for me to snub the gameplay of the game.
Loss of HP for better shields....blagh
Iffy weapon balances
Stuff times out to soon
In all the game is weaker than the frist.
the whole can change clips 2 handed but cant lower one weapon and toss a grenade thing...
Another thing its a good thing the AI is short sighted.....
I hate the new radar..its so unhelpful....

It kind of kills the immersion though when your playing the shield recharging mechanic AND have to hunt for health packs that magically heal you when you walk over them.
And it's not an Auto-aim, the cursor is just slightly sticky on target. I have no problems getting Covenant Carbine headshots on brutes, or disengaging one target to hit a higher threat. Maybe you just suck?

On the autoaim issue, there was also autoaim in Halo 1, but it automatically aimed for the enemy if they were within range of your crosshair rather than moving your crosshair to the nearby target.

anyone that uses autoaim on Halo auto fails in the FPS genre :rolleyes:
Auto aim of any kind is used by those that cant aim or havent played games where the bullets actually spread due to recoil unlike Halo where the bullets basically go where you point them.
And how does searching for health packs diminish immersion of the a game when it has very little realism in the first place? Don't think of it as a first aid kit, think of it as armor repair :p I dont think even in the future, armor is industructable to plasma weapons. Taking away the HP bar really took alot of strategy out of Halo. I prefer to have some "omg what am i going to do" moments that having low health while under alot of fire came with

In order to turn down "teh suck" I need better control options.
A senevity bar or 12 points is a good start then having the ability to turn off auto aim so my brain dose not get confused and try and redirect the fcking crosshair a mile away......
Hell auto aim sucks MP lock on makes more sense to make a FPS noob friendly.

I am 2 or 3 levels in,the levels seem a bit bland I guess once they removed health they don't need to work at level design and hide health stashes.....
Man this game would have rocked on the PS2 with 2 shoulder fire buttons!

SO far I would like the button layout to be this
Southpaw with
Left analog button melee
Right analog button jump
Dpad up zoom
Dpad left/right switch weapons
dpad down crouch toggle
Y and X can be to swap out for dual wielding for left and right hand
A can be grenade
black and white are ok as they are.
its little things like full button mapping that add to the fun of a game....

New rant weapons overrides ,every few levels it just HAS to replace weapons I spent time on saving...I sooooooooooooo hate that...
not a great fan f the weapon drop for melee or grenade heres an idea if he can lower 2 weapons and reload them at the same time then he can lower one to do melee or toss a freaking grenade....

There are 10 levels of analogue sensitivity that you can even change mid-game, going from 1(stiff but accurate) to 10(extremely fast but slippy). I myself play at 6, with the default at three. And it's not auto-aim at all. Once you center the reticule, it will stick to the target for one or two degrees, then release if you haven't maintained tracking. An auto-aim will lock onto a target until they're dead.

Anytime the AI/computer "adjusts" the cross hair its auto,and 80% of the time it suxs ad its no different for Halo 2,its lost me more hits than anything else....
it still messes up my aiming sometimes....

Motion detector radar whatever I liked it in the first one where it always had where the little buggers where at...
LOL at pics I hate it more when a AI grabs my vehicle after I go sniping WTF I could have sworn I parked here...

AI
its solid but can get lost to many times have it sit and watch the flame from a grenade and jsut be blowen up by it seen ALOT of flood do that...they must like bright lights....
Also had to poke to move acouple hunters with a sword/melee attack about 20 feet to where the enemy where for them to "find" them.

Scripting
Thing's dissapper to much weapons time out WAY to fast or thigns can jsut vanish when a the next area loads.
Huge elevator level the particles were scripted PITIFULLY it need to be half normal "gravity" for particles on that level they just go flying everywhere thats a sign of bad or incomplete codeing.
Some doors to nowhere would open if you got close them from one side or another.

fall damage is WWAAYYYYYYY off...
Double jump is needed like in UT 03 and such I find his jumping lacking...of coarse...since I am using southpaw mode and moving is the right stick and jumping is the B button...screwed I am >>

Option in game or lack there off
You know you should be able to adapt alittle to where you are not picking up any grenades then you should be able to carry 2 or 3 more energy grenades and vice versa.
Hes a cyborg he can dual wield rifles ya know it might have horrid accery but come one he can do it,same for the sword which needs to be adjusted have crouch+ attack to a dash attack or something ,heavy weapons like Brute rifles,rocket launchers and Energy Cannon are 2 handed,I think you should be able to carry any combo of weapons you want even double up to have more ammo,sicne he's lost the ability to carry ammo without weapons doubling up should be allowed.
You should be able to melle attack and keep your dual wiled weapon,as well as store the dual wiled,again hes a cyborg he can carry the extra load sicne weapons are pretty plentiful it would take just alittle annoyance out of the game.

Vehicles
I loved Halo 1's nearly indestructible vehicles I wish they would bring them back,mabye adjust them to have time outs after losing all its HP or have them have 3 sets of HP after the last they blow up,speaking of HP vehicles no longer have a damage meter....thats ANNOYING ....
also whats up with the short range guns not working on the energy tanks?
yet again full button mapping would help one could also adjust the controls to each vechile...
why is it when I get hit by a charged energy pistol I lose all my shields but I can hit ANYTHING with 2 charged energy pistols and they don't die or don't lose all the shields....

Weapons
Minor rebalancing here and there the
E pistol charged shot needs to do 50% more damage on shield's
E Rifle could use less ammo,but overall ok
Beam Rifle ok
Carbine Rifle refire rate could be increased or hold button down to empty a clip
E Sword rechargeing ammo or half dam when depleted
B-E-Rifle hold button down to fire a timed grenade,quick hit button to fire off rounds,clip could be 6 instead of 4,or just add 40% to damage
Energy Canon
Pistol up damage to shields by 30%-40%
Sub.Machinegun not to bad
Battle Rifle a bit weak maybe add 30% damage
Shotgun the earth version of a sword with extension,dose not "cut" well tho :3
Sniper Rifle could do 25% more damage to shields
Rocket Launcher almsot to powerful,split the diffrance -40% damage but add another rocket to the clip,3 at a time loaded and max of 12,add lock to anything.
Grenades
Grenade 40% more damage on non armored,25% less damage on shield's
E Grenade 40% more damage on shielding/vechiles
A thought a button to change weapon mode with would be good for
Submachine gun,Carbine Rifle ,Battle Rifle,E pistol or even E rifle,a full/auto mode switch can do other things for other weapons but you get the point of it.

For the meat of the game (Story and Characters)
I cant really really complain about anything much,some of the in game VAing is weak but the Cut scenes are good.

Losing control...
There are no Volume options for music,sound and voice....this is a annoyance
the control setup is rather meek the southpaw setup dose not use the Dpad so you can actually move/jump and use bashese dogeing at the same time really hurt the game IMO full button mapping would have solved this cookie cutter controls always sux because it leaves someone out ,full button mapping is a must and rather easy to do.
the way the game is setup it dose not play the same for right handed as it dose for left handed and southpaws its teh sux.

Despite my trouble with controlling this game its above average ,personally I give it a 6 but if it had full button mapping I would have given it a 7, 8 would be pushing it.
