You know I'm not really surprised that moron Granholm got re-elected. The people of Michigan are morons (note I do not include myself within this group. I voted for one of her opponents). She's cost our state thousands of jobs, yet somehow it became someone else's fault.
Let me clue everyone in on something. Our "esteemed" guv signed a bill that changed the way businesses within the state had to handle health insurance. Based on this change the business that my mom retired from changed from HAP to Blue Cross. This change has cost my mother THOUSANDS of dollars. Oh it saved businesses all kinds of money, but it hit the working people (both blue and white collar) squarely in the pocket book.
Her policies have also sunk our state to 49th in the economy and 50th in jobs; but its not her fault. Heavens no, its all the fault of those mean republicans.
What happens come election day? Why she gets re-elected. Not on the issues mind you, but based entirely on the fact that she's a woman (I don't mean this to sound sexist but a lot of women here in Michigan voted for, for that very reason. The Detroit News did an article about it) and is against the President. Nice huh?
Keep in mind if by some miracle one of her opponents wins in the long run I'll still say people are morons because no one really knows anything about Dick Devoss (her primary opponent, not one word was ever said about the independants running against her).
People are just stupid. Nothing else can really be said.

Being from Michigan myself, I agree. You may not have been sexist, but the voters obviously are.

Guh, why are we all being "o noes" that some of these guys are getting re-elected? All they're doing is being an ass about video games. I'd rather have THAT kind of moron re-elected than putting a Republican in office.

Well, I'm upset that Schwarzegger got re-elected, because... well, I think he's a crappy governer. He's treated the educational system like crap, and I think that educating our children is perhaps THE most important thing out there.
I'm also glad Santorum is gone. Not because he's anti-game, but because he's an asshole. Part of me will always consider Pittsburgh as my home, and I'm glad he's not a senator there anymore.

There are other options, you know.
Well, not really but a certain Republican in I clothing did win.

KN, did you forget what website you're on?
It seems Roskam won, but McGavick lost, so that's another one we won't have to deal with.
Looking at the wins and losses, I don't think the video game issue really mattered to voters. I don't think it really helped or hurt the candidates. If people realized how much of a waste of money, how disrespectful to the Constitution, and how much of a cheap play for the family values vote these game laws are, maybe it have hurt them more.
Oh, and in response to Beacon:

As I said on the main page, now tha the Elections are over, look for the Dems to just sit and wait 2 years for the next prezident election to take place, probably while slugging it out with bush and company the whole time. Games will no longer be a major issue till 2008 rolls around anyway, and by that time, the Industry will have such overwhelming pecident on it's side, that it'll be redundant.
What I'm more concerned with is what'll happen to the economy. I expect taxes to go up and for unemployment to rise and GNP to fall, also, expect no effort by the dems to seek energy independance, as they voted against every effort made in the past 2 years to get of foriegn oil and begin alternative fuels research.
Either way, games are a small issue that made for great soundbytes but ultimatly is not gonna have any impact in the near future.
Hopefully though, the Dems will prove me wrong and do good, casue I'd like to see the country get unified politicaly and start working together.
