What video card do you have?
What TV do you have?

I have a Radeon 9250 video card and my TV is a Sylvania flatscreen, not sure what model. It has a headphone Jack and three S video ports in the front.

Does the card have a DVI or S-video out on it? If it has DVI, you can get a DVI-svideo adapter for $20. If not, you might need a new video card.

From what I understand, even if your video card has a S-video output, you still won't get good quality images.

I've tried it with my Radeon 9200, and it's very blurry, though I have a standard 32" TV.

I'm sure others will have better experience, but I think for best quality, the TV should be "PC Compatible". This is just one example:
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Philips-23-LCD-HDTV-Monitor-23PF5320/sem/rpsm/oid/147647/catOid/-12867/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

Or one like this:
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Panasonic-52-LCD-Projection-HDTV-PT-52LCX66/sem/rpsm/oid/152131/catOid/-12867/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

They both offer different forms of PC Compatibility.

You can try connecting a S-video cable from your video card to the TV and get a set of cables that run from your sound card to the sound inputs on your TV. But, as I said, expect it to be not very clear. Then again, as I also said, I have a standard TV, not a flatscreen. Your TV may be better at it.

What the devil is a DVI port? And it doesn't even have S video, jsut a standard monitor connection.

I have a 7800gt with vivo and when I watch things on my tv the quality is the same as through cable or ps2 or what-have-you. (Through s-video input)

Of course, this is without any translator or converter, it's directly through the card.

If you join aselabs.com and post a bit, you might win the aiw aron's giving away, that thing is perfect for outputting stuff from your pc to your tv.

This is what a DVI (Digital Video Interface) looks like.

Wikipedia is your friend- Toll

Most modern high quality LCD monitors support it.

I asked because most Ati Radeon cards have a DVI connector as well as the VGA one standard.

A Radeon 9250 video card with DVI/S-Video out will probably run you about $50 US or cheaper.

Thank you kindly. Also, would this also allow me to record video fro mthe TV? Say if I wanted to record some game footage of something I did?

No, unfortunately it isn't bidirectional. You'd need a TV capture card, some start at $40 US for basic TV-in features.

And if you consider a capture card, I'd recommend going through the capture card list on vcdhelp.com .
The site has been a big help for me when it came to choosing DVD players and writers in the past.

ATI All in Wonder.

I have an older version in my POS (piece of ****) system. The lettering is a bit blurry.

I was thinking of those. How much do they run for?

i'm using a radeon 9200(?) s-video out to a standard line level video input, and my screen is crystal clear. i use the pc connected to it for DVDs and other content. combined with wireless keyboard and mouse, it's a great entertainment center. no more watching fansubs on my computer ^_^.

Another part of my equation was for emulators. I was planning to get a longer AV cable and set it up next to my bed, running a cable to my TV
