Yup, you read that right. For my English class, there is an MLA-format term paper that we must submit that needs to be argumentative. As a person who is passionate about video games, I figured I should try my hand at discussing the recent controversy surrounding Rockstar's new video game, Bully.

If it wouldn't be too much trouble, I'd like to ask for a little assistance here and there. GamePolitics.com was the only place that I learned about the various information concerning Bully, and when I came up with the idea, I felt that the best place to go for sources and information would be here.

My first question would be this:

When it comes to citing GamePolitics as a source, I'm not exactly sure what GamePolitics.com would be classified as. What format would be best suited to use on the Works Cited page? (Until I can go to the bookstore and buy a copy of the MLA handbook, I'm using this page (http://bcs.bedfordstmartins.com/everyday_writer3e/docsource/1d.html) as a reference.)

Thanks a bunch in advance!

I'm not sure how you'd cite GamePolitics, but if you're looking for information on Bully, you might want to ask our old friend Jack Thompson. At the very least, you should probably go through some of his old press releases and open letters -- they can be found all over the net, and you could probably get away with just citing the author as Thompson, Jack. I suspect that a fair proportion of that 10-15 pages is going to be on the controversy surrounding the game, and he really is the best source.

Theory?

I just did a 7 page on on the violence issue. It's not hard once you get going.

Well, more specifically I'm looking to cite this page (http://gamepolitics.com/2006/08/16/jack-thompson-files-suit-to-stop-bully-claims-victory/). My intent is to use that source as proof of the Florida case itself. I was curious to see if I could obtain some of the case files, but it seems that many sources require a payment up front.

And yes, I am focusing on the controversy surrounding Bully itself... ^_^

It's funny. I'm doing a research paper for my English class. I'm doing mine on video game censorship. My teacher said to cite it like a normal website. Of course, it depends on what citation method you are using. (Never mind. I see MLA now)

We should send our papers to our state/national reps. With enough support, it might convince them that any attempt to legislate video games is pointless. :)

I've done articles on violent video games. There should be MLA guidelines for using websites, which is what this would be counted as. While I have done this in the past, my video game paper this time is a 10 page paper on copyright law and abandonware, shareware, etc.

I also have an 8 page minimum research paper to do for my English 102 class, on videogame censorship. I'm going to end up pumping out a 10-12 pager though on the topic. The stupidity and information is near endless i'm finding
