Hi there, I'm brand new to this, but i was curious where i can find advice on how to enter the field of video games. I've been a chef (i'm 23) since i was fourteen, graduated from two culinary schools and i'm happy with my career but i just have so much passion in games too. I've been working part time in retail stores (EB, Game crazy) for years but i don't know how to get farther. Should i go into PR?.... because what i truly want to do is promote video games. Features, release dates... i guess much more. I JUST WANT TO BE INVOLVED!!... any ideas?

PR is not as simple as some people make it out to be: generally they're going to want you to have at least a bachelors in communications (or specifically in PR), and you have to remember that PR is not the same thing as marketing. Most people can do marketing with a little bit of training and study, and a lot of people get into that through working in the journalism industry. But PR is not marketing; it involves communications and mass media theory, sociology, and business acumen that requires specific training.
If that's what you want to do, you should consider getting a 4 year degree in communications/PR.
If you just want to get involved in games, you'd probably have better luck trying to get a job as a community manager; nowadays that seems to be the easiest "admin" kind of job to swing anyway.
