I'm currently working on my MGP, my question is: how realistic is it to get a job working in this industry if I don't live in CA or NY? We are moving back to MO...yeah, I know, and am wondering if I will be waisting my money when I'm not in a "hub". Thank you for your help.

Realistic as anything if you're willing to move.

I know that sounds a bit flippant, but it's true.

That said: there are devs all over the show, so you might be able to get in somewhere local, just not on a big name- but it will at least be a start.

I agree.

An ex boyfriend of mine got a job offer from EA when he was living in Halifax. He relocated to Vancouver for the job -- I believe EA helped to pay his moving expenses. This is fairly common procedure, as I understand it.

There are also smaller game companies all over the place, especially companies specializing in cellphone or flash games. Yeah, I know it's not as exciting as working on the latest big name console game, but it might be a good place to start if you're not willing to move.

Seattle, Vancouver, Southeastern Texas, California. Anywhere else, and be prepared to either hunt for local guys, or move.
