Just a quick word of praise for the work that Thomas and the respective chapter presidents have done and are doing. Since the press release last month, they have grown the ECA chapter count from 30 to 40, partnered with many colleges and universities (which has great broad sweeping implications for us and on a few levels) and grown the depth of the chapters individually - which is important, as many of them are school-based and therefore have a natural attrition issue... the way that a Fraternity or social club does.
Great work guys!
Chapters are important to the ECA in the long term for more reasons than the obvious (bringing gamers together, having a social environment, getting discounts, etc.). They are integral to our strategy in that we believe they can and will bring about change. Having constituents involved in the Government Affairs process early in a bill's life, we believe, will represent a paradigm shift; a fundamental change in moving from a defensive posture to an offensive one where we take ownership of how our collective image, how we are perceived.
And if you're interested in starting or joining a chapter, you need only be an active ECA member in good standing and reach out to Thomas.
Best,
-Hal.
