Should Bush be impeached,or at least should there be "rigged" hearings like with Clinton to show that the goverment still cares about having this thing called oversight or is screwing interns still more dangerous to the public than bending over the nation and and sending troops off to battlets over questionable findings, private talks with energy corperations and other things that are within question..

2nd Question Do we need Oversight anymore they don't use it unless its election time anyway!

There's no way there will be an impeachment hearing in spite of the fact he broke the law with the NSA wiretap thing.

So without even a appearance of oversight the broken goverment rattles along until it falls apart?

Unless God Himself stuffs the ballot boxes we're looking at 2 more years of GOP control on all levels of gov't.

I know impeachment is a impossibility right now but do you think they will do a rigged one once hes out of office?

No. Impeaching (and succeeding in getting him out early) would be a VERY bad thing... Why?

Cheney becomes president.

Then we're screwed. In the pooper. With a large mace. Covered in lemon juice. And AIDS.

He already pulls all the strings, we'll get the same leadership but we won't "misunderestimate" him.

The international community may consider electing another Republican some form of 'hostile action'.

Thus, global invasion of the US.

And then they fire their nukesies.

Which is not teh good.

Impeachment = President Dick Cheny.

Exactly why the Dems are going to let him be, it's win win for them for Georgie to stay in office. If they win the congress they can prevent the worst of the worst and possible force Bush to make bad strategic decisions in Iraq. If they don't get control of Congress they are likely to gain enough seats that nothing can pass without them, and then they just let Bush make bad strategic decisions in Iraq, almost guaranteeing them the Presidency in '08.

I find it funny (and sad) that we'll impeach a president for having sex with a woman and lying about it (like that ever happens /sarcasm). But we won't impeach someone that lied to a country to go to war. Even though a president Dick Cheney would be just as bad as GW, but the fact of the impeachment thing boggles my mind.

I don't think President Bush should be impeached (I know you're all shocked). I've made my feelings on the Iraq situation abundantly clear in the past and I'm not going to start that flame war over again. For all the talk about how President Bush is stupid, you all seem to forget that the man graduated from Yale. That's a pretty prestigious university. I'll admit that he doesn't have the most sofisticated vocabulary but that hardly makes a person less intelligent.

All in all President Bush hasn't done a bad job. The economy is doing great (albeit not in Michigan; but I blame that on the ineptness of our Govenor). There's a single digit percentage of unemployment and peopel are actually spending their money; which is always a good thing.

The problem isn't tax revenue, its the out of control spending and always has been. Congressmen and senators (on both sides) go out of their way to pad bills with stupid projects (like studying the effects of cow farts on the enviroment) while allowing the bill's true purpose to be buried beneath all the spending. Both sides need to step back and remember that its our money that's being spent.

Impeaching Bush really is a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. Now, as I'm Canadian, it's not as big an issue to me, but I'd still love to see him out of there (and ideally, not see Cheney in.) One of my friends said that the whole illegal NSA wire-tapping bit could've been considered an impeachable offense, violating the privacy of countless Americans.

But a list of things he's done:

- Aforementioned wire-tapping scandal
- Lied to the US to go to war
- Invaded two countries and ended up not finding what he said was definitely there in WMD's
- Military Commissions Act: Essentially excises Habeas Corpus from the Constitution, and in turn, effectively guts the Bill of Rights
- About two weeks ago, signed a bill allowing him to impose martial law anywhere in the US at any time (assuming I interpret it correctly)

Those, in my opinion, constitute a far more impeachable set of offenses than a blowjob ever could. Never mind how he's retarded a lot of scientific development in the US (and I'm not even talking stem cells, so let's leave that for another thread, I'm getting more on the lines of alternative energy, where he's still big on the oil companies and such,) or the record debts that he's racked up.

Anyone can graduate from university, especially with enough money from daddy... The fact is, Bush is not STUPID. He just has no common sense at all. There's a difference there.

Because getting caught into 2 wars that you can't possibly win, alienating pretty much all the muslim populations in the world, reducing the rights of your own people, ect... is not doing a bad job? Then I guess Ivan the Terrible and Louis XVI were doing mighty fine jobs!

That's kinda why those stupid studies go through i nthe first place. If they were spending their own money, then none of those studies woudl be passed, ever.

Yeah that makes sense because Democrats can REALLY get **** passed these days. Democrats are obviously responsible for the failure in Iraq since they decided how many troops to deploy initially and decide when we can just declare victory and leave like in Vietnam.

I'm so glad GW thinks that it is important we have a culture of life. Well, Human life of course. And, ya know, babies, not full grown adults. Once they're out of the womb - **** 'em, let 'em die in Iraq. If they're Iraqi than whatev's, they don't even count as people. they're just inconvient numbers.

Wasteful spending? Homeland security. You ever read an article about "homeland security person busts terrorist"? No, it's always the FBI or CIA.

Where you got your education isnt a good indicator of how smart you are. I've seen people with better heads on their shoulders than Bush that didn't graduate high school and met some pretty dumb people that managed to finish college. Like silver said, theres smarts and then theres common sense, just cause you have one doesnt mean you have the other.

Also history has shown that war is always good for the economy, in the short term. Long term is usually bad
