What's up with all of these Islamic radical games all of a sudden?

A little bird tells me that a major newspaper will have an investigative piece on this pretty soon.

It seems like any media when popular enough will become universal.
I.E. in film you get both indie films, big budget films, and Birth of a Nation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birth_of_a_Nation)
In games you get indie games, big budget games, and games about blowing up stuff.

That's why there is also Al Quida gangsta rap (yo yo yo I don't need a gat I'm strapped with c4 yo, when I take the american imperialists out Allah's gonna hook me up with all the fly virgins, all yall be hatin on me cause you aint got the skillz I got, my be running with AKs u weak ass punks be packin' boxcutters.....) And Al Quida indie rock, Al Quida breakfast cereal, Al Quida saturday morning cartoons (imagine GW saying "I would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't fer you meddling martyrs!").

That's what they do, they co-opt pop culture and pervert it to their own needs. Like Christians with Christian Manga and whatnot.

Extremist groups co-opt popular media and popular culture to further their agenda and reach out to the mainstream. IE: the GOP wants more Catholics in their ranks so they had a sex scandal.

That's a little general though. All sides have propoganda, and are equally unwilling to call it what it is. While I'm no expert, I'm quite sure if you're pitching radical-Islam to a Middle Eastern gamer...the logic is flawed because these guys make it so low-par it rivals the KKK's White-Power Doom.

But with games like these what's focused on is the message not the gameplay. So they aim up with a low-par game full of propoganda instead of something someone would enjoy someone gets something in which ideas regularly pushed on them hit them unexpectedly.

I get the idea. I mean, does anyone here remember watching that "Loose Change" video before...and end up just a little skeptical of what happened afterwards? Common sense tells you that of course the "documentary" was BS, but some fervantly believe it. Ideologies have a lot to do with it, yes.

A lot of these games are mods.

I love how they are dubbed 'Al-Qaida' games. Al-Qaida doesn't even record their regular 'threatening messages' on DVD, so why the hell would they be able to make a mod, let alone a video game?

'Radical islam mods' would be a better description.

Apparently you haven't checked Amazon.com recently because they JUST released a new DVD called "Osama's greatest hits vol. 1". It even comes with bonus features like out-takes and behind the scenes introspectives! IIRC there's even director's commentary. Also, on CD there's Osama sings Jazz Standards. Who knew the most infamous terrorist in the world could do such great renditions of these classic songs? I sure didn't!

I know Osama's weird, but that sounds a little off the wall even for him. Probably just some teens with a voice synthesizer. Then again, I heard on TV that he's obsessed with Bobby Brown?!

He loves whitney houston so he's obsessed with killing bobby brown. Of course, now that they're split up he might just start making the moves on her.

There's nothing wrong with these games. If we can make games about blowing up Germans, Japanese, Russians, etc. under the guise of "it's just a game," we have to let it roll off of our backs when other countries make games featuring killing Americans.

If people get inspired to become terrorists because of ideology presented in video games, I blame it on their parents. :D

Well, so far there is something very very wrong with this game, something that makes their release alone a terrorist act: the fact that they have all been very poorly made and are bad games. Everyone knows that acclaim was shut down by the CIA after the 17th really bad Turok game. And they were on thin ice after flushing the Dave Mirra series down the crapper.

Bad games are the greatest threat to modern democracy.

More on Osama, he also enjoys long walks on the sand dunes and Shiite slaying sunsets.
