Here's a good site to summarize:

http://www.retroweb.com/prisoner.html

Basically, it's a 70's show about a british spy who resigns. He gets gassed, wakes up in a strange seaside village, and everyone seems to be asking him about why he resigned. He can't tell if they're his own government trying to see if he's a turncoat, or a foreign power trying to extract info (that and he doesn't want to be treated like a number in a file anymore), so he refuses to cooperate.

Everyone has a number, his is #6. #2 is in charge of the town, and reports to #1 via phone. Each episode has a new #2, as the old one is replaced for failing to "break" #6.

It's mostly about loss of individuality, conformism, the struggle for control, and commentary on society in general.

I'd recommend picking up Stargate Atlantis as well, especially considering how tightly the two series are tied in at the beginning, right in the middle of season 8.

And you can't go wrong with the complete Monty Python's Flying Circus set.

wakes up in a strange seaside village

...which, incidentally, is still there, and can be wandered around at will.

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to stop this thread right here as it has become much too silly. Now, nobody enjoys a good joke more than me. Well, except for (henderson?). And my wife. And my wife's friends. Actually, come to think of it, most people enjoy a good joke more than me....

You can find the Babylon 5 dvds relatively cheap on Amazon. I'm planning on picking seasons 4 and 5 as soon as I have a little extra cash. They run about 45 per season if I'm remembering correctly.

No. You're talking about "Unhappily Ever After", from the creators of "Married With Children".
