Yes, I sure do appreciate the phrase "Luckily, things are a little more democratic here in the US".

That hurts...cause I was sooo trying to go for 80's there. Damn. Actually I'm looking up some American anti gaming legislation for Part two...shouldn't be too hard.

*pokepoke* do we have another forum goddess lurking here? ^^
Germany has a deeper setup than most think it has some stores sale the unrated games, the trick is since its unrated it defaults to a medium that can not be displayed in public where under aged people have access to.
I am sure other countries that do not go out of their way to enforce/confiscate have interesting nuances like this.
would know what countries enforce/confiscate,still trying to piece together a comparasion sheet for the main ratings board of the world.

*backhand* yes perhaps you do...now fetch me JT's head on a plate...plz.
I'm just waiting for the day we get get a universal rating system or if Senator Sam Brownback had his way, his Truth in Video Game Rating Act would have an independent and new rating board developed with hive-mind Borg in place of unbiased people rating our games.
Borg Raters watching two well written and fleshed out characters kiss and then the story line continues:
Borg Rater: "I think that's an AO"
Other Borg Rater: "Yes, yes..I agree that's an AO"
Other other Borg Rater: "I think I missed it, but yeah what you guys said, definitely AO"

*gets knocked over by the hit* =0-o=
*blink blink, sits under a table hiding*
A universal system thats not universal pssh who would think it .
Personally I think a uni system could work if you set a few rules like sound/voice/writing is a "level" lesser than visual mediums.
Force instance say have a vampire killer film hats gory and over sexaulized but in the bounds of an R and gets a NC17 home market release(no unrated in a uni system), the comic has alot of stylized black out and shadow play so while rough falls under PG13, while the sound track is unrated has a good bit of cussing and OTT lyrics another PG13.
The only things regulated in them all is the R and above stuff, the regulation comes down to fines agisnt the retailer, there is nothing else that can be levied agisnt anyone else unless you start fining reality for assaulting minors..... and that is the problem the moralists have their nose out of joint and can not see people just trying to get by and have no need of their stupid regulations, while I think we could create a balanced uni rating system its pointless because the moralists basically want to sue the grand wizard in the sky(god) for not making things "fair".
