(blah blah blah Virginia Tech)
In the 12 months since, threat assessment teams have become commonplace on US campuses. One college even asks its staff, from janitor to principal, to list the students they have a positive connection with. If a student’s name doesn’t appear on any list, staff then make an effort to reach out to them.
This seems... odd.

You know, I honestly believe all these shootings are a direct result of the mentality that so many people have that someone else's well being are none of their concern, and they should not care about how their actions or inaction affect others. People like Cho were so obviously troubled, but how many people sat back and laughed, or made fun of him behind his back because of the very issues that caused him to do what he did. He was obviously allowed to slip through the VERY large cracks in our atrocious health system. I think these "threat assessment" programs are a start in the right direction, but based purely on my own experience, it will turn into a joke in a way, or innocent kids will be singled out and basically be told they are a threat publicly, harming them, possibly irreparably.
