John Lee Riches, an inmate in South Carolina, has filed a request for a restraining order against Rockstar Games, GTA publisher Take-Two Interactive and Grand Theft Auto itself, claiming that the group is responsible for his current prison sentence.
The group "contributed to Plaintiff committing identity theft. Defendant's games show sex, drugs and violence which offends me," according to the hand-written request Riches handed to prison officials on Apr. 9.
The suit also includes action against FCI Williamsburg, the medium-security prison where Riches (pictured at right) is being held.
"I face imminent danger from violent inmates who played Grand Theft Auto who will knock me out and take my gold Jesus cross," the complaint continues.
This isn't the first time Riches has opted for pre-release litigation.
Prior suits attempted while incarcerated include action against NFL quarterback (and dog fighting aficionado) Michael Vick, Martha Stewart, Steve Jobs, President Bush and Britney Spears.
No past legal action attempted by Riches has been successful.
