I had a very successful birthday, thank you guys for the fond wishes. My house is littered with beer bottles and plates and more beer bottles. My bathroom was doing fine until after all my friends left, my roommate and I sat down for a little smoke and he threw up all over the bathroom floor. Oh well, had to happen I guess.

Simillarly, if anyone ever tells you coffee or cold air sobers you up, this is a blatant lie as both activities speed up the flow of blood in your body causing the alcohol in your blood to reach the rest of your body much quicker.

No the only thing you get by giving coffee or a cold shower to a drunk is a wide awake drunk. This just means you have to spend a few more hours babysitting said drunk where he would have probably passed out soon enough.

Water
Orange Juice
Coffee
greasy breakfast (eggs and bacon is good, steak better)

Do not leave any of the above out.

A hangover is just the biological result of severe dehydration due to the liver using a good portion of the body's water to get rid of the alcohol, combined with the compounds the liver produces when it is breaking down alcohol. Thankfully those compounds are water soluble and the kidneys flush them out easily. So getting rid of an hangover can be done with just a several glasses of water.

Also avoiding a hangover can be done by drinking water with your alcohol.

I said everything I did for a reason. NSAID pain relievers reduce inflammation that causes the headache. Water is obvious. OJ helps put back electrolytes in your system. Coffee, the same but also helps bring blood flow back to normal. Coffee and OJ are also more palatable than water during a hangover, and act as another means of hydration. Finally, a greasy breakfast helps repair your stomach lining which you messed with by getting drunk.
