So, I am an art student. Graphic Design, actually. This week, I was lucky enough to have 4 major things due, and this is coming after two very busy, very sleepless weeks. The final thing I had to do was a video project. I managed to get that done about 4am, and I was excited. See, all I had to do was burn a DVD and I could go to bed and get a whole 4 hours of sleep for once. Well, lets just say it is 7:45, and I STILL have not been able to burn a decent version of my video. My 2 day total for sleep will be 1 whole hour at 8 am. My three day total? 5. And I have class until 5pm today.
I have no idea why I just wrote that.

I don't personally think anyone knows why they do anything. I certainly don't.

ART STUDENTS YAY!
Last semester I went three whole days without more than one hour of sleep. I was working dog's hours and doing my final projects, one of which was a session in the recording studio from midnight to noon. That was loads of fun.
This semester I didn't just drop the ball, I threw it six miles away. I'm barely getting my stuff in for like..half my classes. The ohters I've just resigned to the fact that I've failed.
In summation, **** art school...and **** all other colleges as well.

So nothings changed in the 20 years since I was an art student, we had wood kiln firings that would go for 3 days, the stoking had to be split up between the people with work in the kiln so if there were only two of you it became a marathon effort, we looked like Dickensian chimney sweeps by the end of it.
My wife is a Graphic Designer..hehe..it gets worse when you're in the industry.
she once worked 9 am round to 9am the next day, came home and slept until 12, worked through until 3 the next day...was back at 9 the following day and not home before 10pm for the rest of the week..brutal..she was a wreck..this was a regular regime close to deadlines...the all nighter.

And to think, I'll go days without sleeping just to play a game.
Speaking of which, Rock Candy goes well with Coffee or caffeinated Tea.

My friend pretty much runs the ceramics department, and he sets his schedual around the kiln.
Also, I am planning on going at a game design school after this, so, yea. This is nothing compared to the schedule for that. lol.
I got home about 6pm yesterday, and just slept for 12 hours strait. So, yay.
We had a really good presentation day. Everyone in our class is kind of finding themselves and really starting to produce gallery quality work. This one woman's work is insanely good. She has done 2 videos that are so well made, it just leaves everyone breathless. My friend's project that I was in went really well to. It was basically a round table type debate. He selected all the people, positioned them, and set up the room, all for a desired effect on the participants and audience. It was really crazy how much went into it, and how the themes- such as how we are effected by our environment, how different people's personalities drive others, and how disconnected an audience can feel from a performance just by a physical barrier- played out.

Good to see you managed to survive being a sleep deprived timebomb... :)
Lord knows we've got enough crazies with guns that just happen to play games...
