Until they start including fights to the death, and ban **** like ballroom dancing, curling, and figure skating I don't care about the Olympics.
And I suspect that the Olympics are going to have the lowest ratings this year, and I mean lower than usual. Not to mention low ticket sales in China, I mean honestly who wants to go to a place that will ****ing shoot you for not thinking the way they do?

See they could so make the Olympics much more interesting, with naked wrestling. (men and women). Volley Ball should also be a nude sport, in fact clothing should be banned in all Olympic sports, this way it would be precluded from taking up US TV air time.
Of course the Winter Olympics might be a bit more interesting in the nude, and much shorter... how many people are going to form a nude Bobsled team?
And even then it was completely corrupt. People were also killed.
Why can't we do that today?
I for one think that they should put random land mines under the bases in Base Ball. This would make the game much more exciting, and give new meaning to the term "the bases are loaded"
In Football, the football itself should have a vial of nitroglycerin inside that is capable of rupturing at any moment.
The tracks used in the track & field should be booby trapped with trip wires and pit falls.
The ice skating rinks for figure skating should have weak spots in the ice which have freezing water underneath, but of course said areas are cleverly hidden and contestants who have not performed for the day cannot see other performances.
Bull Riding should be made an Olympic sport just because it takes balls to climb on to the back of a 2000 lb enraged animal.

A Venezuelan TV station has withdrawn The Simpsons from its daily 11am slot because "it isn't appropriate for children".
Which is probably acceptable, The Simpsons not being a kids' show and all, but:
Instead, the station has replaced the long-running cartoon show with Baywatch Hawaii, which features scantily clad men and women working as lifeguards on the coast of Hawaii.

The head of the Georgia NAACP called for the state to investigate the sentences given in the so-called "Barbie bandits" bank theft case, saying the two white defendants got less prison time than two black men..
You know unless it is life in prison or the death penalty the NAACP will always claim a white defendant "Got off easy."
Last month, Cobb County Superior Court Judge Mary Staley sentenced 20-year-old Heather Johnston to 10 years probation after she pleaded guilty to a charge of theft by taking in the 2007 heist. The judge gave 19-year-old Ashley Miller two years in jail and eight years probation. Both women are white.
Michael Chastang, 28, was sentenced to 10 years for being the mastermind of the robbery, and bank teller Bennie Allen III, 23, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced to five years. Both men are black. Chastang also is serving 15 years on unrelated drug-trafficking charges and Allen was on probation for a drug conviction.
Ok lets take a look at this a little closer and see why the men got the harsher sentence.

Well they are repeat offenders! Will you look at that. But nope has to be racism because they are black. Can't be because they had charges before this could it? Couldn't be that one guy violated probation by doing his part in the crime. Nope has to be because they are black. The NAACP is nothing more than a joke now.

(CBS/AP) Eight teenagers have been arrested after filming the beating of another teen and threatening to post the video on the Internet, sheriff's officials said.
Victoria Lindsay was attacked on March 30 by six teenage girls when she arrived at a friend's home, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
Two girls confronted Lindsay when she walked in, yelling and threatening her, an arrest report showed. Another girl struck her in the head several times and then slammed her head into the bedroom wall, knocking her unconscious.
When she woke up, she was on the couch in the living room surrounded by the six girls. The teens blocked the door, held Lindsay down and began beating her, the report said. Two teenage boys waited outside the home as lookouts.
.......
This I found interesting especially later on when the following:
"I want stiffer punishments for these shock Web sites that entice kids to make these videos so they can be famous on the Internet," Patrick told The Ledger of Lakeland, Fla. "That is the motive, I am sure of it. It's crazy and it's terrible and they're gonna pay."

Probably. I don't think a game controller would make a very good weapon, though -- they're all pretty light, and even the Wiimote's shape/size would make it difficult to wield like that. This guy must have put a lot of force into it

Japanese machine-washed Filipina's body parts -- reports (http://globalnation.inquirer.net/news/news/view/20080408-129152/Japanese-machine-washed-Filipinas-body-parts----reports)
TOKYO -- A Japanese man who was arrested over the death of a Filipina woman allegedly chopped up her body and cleaned the pieces in a washing machine, reports said Tuesday.
Media accounts also revealed that Hiroshi Nozaki, 48, had served prison time for a similar case of mutilating the body of a Filipina bar hostess in 2000 but was set free.
Police on Sunday arrested Nozaki on charges of mutilating the body of 22-year-old Honiefaith Ratilla Kamiosawa, who worked in Tokyo's Roppongi entertainment district.
The private Asahi network said Nozaki cut her body into pieces in his bathroom and "washed them elaborately in a laundry machine" to make them lighter or to make it difficult to trace the cause of death.
Little blood remained in the recovered body parts, although blood was found in the washing machine, the Asahi and other networks said.
Police declined comment on the reports. They earlier said that the victim's co-worker, who shared an apartment with her and Nozaki, saw him carrying a body part.
I wonder - do they broadcast CSI over there? It's either that or Detective Conan...

Mother charged in daughter's stabbing death
The girl's body was found by police early Monday morning. The mother was discovered in a nearby apartment with superficial knife wounds on her hands and wrists.
The young girl was stabbed 11 times. Her mother is said to originally have told police that it was self-defense;she claimed her 6-year-old daughter had come at her with a knife. But, since then, police say the mother's story has changed. Now she says she feared her daughter had been possessed by devil, because recently, she had begun sleepwalking.

Homeland Security secretary proposes 'Manhattan Project'
Risks from cyberattacks are increasing and the consequences are so great that the country needs a "Manhattan Project" for network security, Michael Chertoff, secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, said in a keynote on Tuesday at RSA 2008.
"We need a game-changer with how we deal with attacks," he said. "In January, the president signed a homeland security directive, for a national cybersecurity initiative...almost like a Manhattan Project."

Chertoff is an incompetent hack who uses fear mongering to try and get his ideas passed.
Chertoff asked rhetorically, when choosing between an airline that allows people without identification to board and one that doesn't, "which airline would you put your children on?"
Sorry Mike but it is electronic it can be hacked. Your national Real ID system would fail in a matter of days when a hacker got into the system and changed everyone's ID or made on for himself. Not to mention it would stop any tourist/businessman from flying into the country because he did not have a "Real ID". All this would do is just make it easier for Chertoff to round up those you have problems with and label them as terrorists and hold them under the patriot act. This moron should realize that no matter how well a security system is, it can and will be hacked. The more secure you boast your system is, the more hackers will go for it.
Lets look at it this way too, TSA would be in charge at checking the IDs. TSA who constantly fails security tests and lets men strapped with fake bombs through security. They only stop those with expensive electronics/clothes/luggage, just so they can steal it and take it home to their family.

When Joaquin Decantor's car battery died, he says he grabbed his girlfriend's pain medicine, which was in the center console, and began to walk home.
But police who stopped him in October 2007 contend he's a trafficker in prescription drugs. If he's convicted of the charges, he faces 25 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
Opening arguments began Wednesday in Decantor's trial. His attorney argued that having a bottle of pain pills that were legally prescribed to his girlfriend isn't a crime.
''These are her prescriptions with her name on them, with her doctor's name on them,'' Assistant Public Defender Jorge Viera told the jury during opening arguments.
He compared the case to people who pick up prescriptions for family members.
''According to that theory, Grandma Jones picking up medication for Grandpa Jones is trafficking in drugs,'' he said.
But prosecutor Forest Andrews pointed out that drug trafficking by law doesn't necessarily involve bringing large quantities of illicit drugs across the border.
''You're not going to hear about uzis and speedboats like you see on Miami Vice,'' Andrews told the jury.

Cell phone alert system proposed (http://money.cnn.com/2008/04/09/technology/fcc_cell_phone_alert/index.htm?section=money_latest)
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A nationwide alert system will use cell phones or other mobile devices to send text messages to Americans when an emergency occurs, the Federal Communications Commission will announce Wednesday, according to an FCC representative.
The representative said cell phone companies that voluntarily opt into the system would send text-based alert messages to subscribers in response to three types of events:
- A disaster that could jeopardize the health and safety of Americans, such as a terrorist attack; these would trigger a national alert from the president of the United States.
- Imminent or ongoing threats such as hurricanes, tornadoes or earthquakes.
- Child abductions or Amber alerts.
T-Mobile, Verizon (VZ, Fortune 500), Sprint Nextel (S, Fortune 500) and AT&T (T, Fortune 500) all stated that they would be likely to opt into the alert system if it is passed by the FCC.
"While we obviously need to review the details of the FCC's decision, we look forward to offering mobile emergency alerts to our customers," AT&T said in a written statement.
A Sprint representative said the company would participate if the FCC adopts the plan exactly as it was recommended by an advisory group.
A federal agency, yet to be appointed, would create the messages and information that would go to the participating cell phone companies, the FCC representative said. Once that agency is named, all carriers who opt into the system will have to meet the requirements of the system within 10 months.
Subscribers would be able to opt out of receiving the messages, according to the current plan, and carriers would be required to provide vibration or audio attention signals with a distinct sound for people with disabilities.
The alert system plan was generated out of an act Congress passed in 2006 that looked at emergency communications. The act directed the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, the Department of Homeland Security, and FCC and other agencies to work together to enhance and expand the capabilities of emergency communications in the United States.`

Apparently, YouTube and MySpace totally kicked the crud out of a Florida cheerleader. Adding insult to injury, these notoriously wicked Web sites also filmed their beatdown and uploaded the 30-minute slugfest to the completely compliant Internet for all to see.
At least that’s what parents of both the victim and at least one of the teenage girls accused of the assault claim. Despite what the video reveals — or appears to reveal — at least two moms assert that the fault lies not with the girls involved or anyone’s specious parenting skills. Once again, the Internet has blood on its virtual hands.

Everyone likes to keep up on how Germany screws up:
Bureaucratic meddling has harmed solar power
But governments such as Germany’s, who wanted to give solar and other forms of renewable power an extra boost, began subsidising wind turbines and solar panels in order to speed their adoption.
Meanwhile, Germany has wound up with more solar panels than any other country in the world—a perverse result for such a cloudy place. It also has fewer wind turbines than it might otherwise—again, an odd outcome for a blustery country.
Better still would be a hefty carbon tax, or a strict cap-and-trade regime, which would provide a boost to all low-carbon power sources, not just those that find favour with prodigal bureaucrats.
http://www.economist.com/daily/columns/greenview/displaystory.cfm?story_id=10989479&fsrc=nwl
I think that a carbon tax would be much preferable to a subsidy.

I don't know. In the case of the state, I can see it with them failing to follow through with the court's mental health orders.
As I always say, his social and mental problems don't EXCUSE his actions. But when you take all the problems he had from his earliest childhood and build up the paths he followed, that we know of, I think there is some clear understanding as to SOME of the things that MIGHT have led him to do what he did. Again, not an EXCUSE, just some understanding. There is a lot we don't know about and there is plenty of speculation that could be made and the only one who truly knew everything about Cho is Cho himself.
If there are any school shootings that can be compared and contrasted exceptionally closely, it would be the VTech shooting and the NIU shooting. And that alone would deserve a thread unto itself.

And even before my first cup of coffee is done I find something like this.
A couple fighting about which gang their 4-year-old toddler should join caused a public disturbance that resulted in the father's arrest, Commerce City police said Thursday.
Wait a fight between two scum bags about what gang their kid should roll with? This is both new and interesting.
His girlfriend told police that they had been arguing about the upbringing of their son and which gang he should belong to. The teen mother, who is black, is a member of the Crips. Manzanares is Hispanic and belongs to the Westside Ballers gang, the woman said.
Here is an idea, kill both the parents for being a plague on society and take the kid into protective custody before his parent's stupidity destroys another mind with their retarded gang upbringing. Hmm I could only hope that this will lead to them killing each other over who has the rights to determine what signs the kid will throw up.
"They have different ideas on how the baby should be raised. Basically, she said they cannot agree on which gang the baby would 'claim,'" Sandoval said.
Ten to one the kid will be dead before his sixth birthday, seeing as what his parents are I doubt he will even see his fifth birthday before he is killed in a barrage of gunfire meant for his parents.
This is just another reason to support the open hunting license on gang members, kill them before they can breed and spawn new ones.

Of course that is one of my other policies to get rid of the stupidity in the world. Licensed hunting of known gang members.
All of this article would be easily avoided under my rule:
1) These "parents" (using the term as loosely as possible) would never pass getting a license to raise a child.
2) It would be quite possible the two gangs wouldn't be around as seeing becoming a gang leader would be a death penalty, and once a judicial bounty was issues the gang leader could be hunted.

Interestingly no one in our media is blaming other forms of entertainment for the rise in youth crime, I guess hard core rappers are still the most convenient whipping boys (no slur intended).

Well, the music probably doesn't help, but I doubt it would be popular if there weren't problems to begin with. There's got to be a reason why young people identify with such music, not to mention have such poor taste ;)

Bah, there are other traditionally black types of music that are way better... jazz and reggae immediately come to mind, not to mention some of the more traditional stuff from Africa itself. If they're just looking for a black (or otherwise non-white) musical role model, there are plenty of options... but for some reason, those other options aren't popular today.

The gangsta thing has appeal because they're portrayed as black rebels against the white system, fair enough, but Australian kids only see the glamorous hollywood gangstas not the poverty and injustice that spawned that lifestyle. The divide between haves and have nots is not as great here as it is in America, these so called gangstas could find gainful employment and support within the community if they wanted to,as a rule their parents work hard and keep themselves nice. They're just lazy, pampered brats acting out and thats what is outraging people here, nobody can comprehend why relatively well cared for kids would choose to live the lifestyle born of poor, socially isolated and dysfunctional ghetto's.

True... I find it similarly incomprehensible when I see that culture gaining acceptance here, albeit in a slightly different demographic -- the population here is less than 1% black. Let's just say that there are few things funnier than scrawny asian suburban kids pretending to be large black men.

NEW Australian-developed contraceptive jab for men, taken four times a year, has been proven to be just as effective as birth-control pills for women.
About bloody time, they can put a man on the moon...etc The only downside I can see is a fall in the use of condoms and a rise in STD'S.

I doubt there'll be too much of an impact on condom use and/or STDs... after all, plenty of women are already on the pill. I definitely like the sound of this in any case. More protection is always a good thing.

That's a good point.
Now, find some statistics for me. If I take the man-pill, my lady takes the lady-pill, we use a condom, and some spermacide, what are the chances of preggers?
Zero! Because I didn't say we were having sex! ba-dum pshhh.
...but seriously now... Wha'd'ya suppose that stats are?

Y'know, if the homosexual agenda was more than just "please don't hate us anymore", I'd create a government program to turn all the stupid people gay. Even mouth breathers can avoid pregnancy with buttsecks!

Randi Rhodes (no relation) leaves Air America after heads act like morons. (http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Rhodes_done_with_Air_America_0410.html)
Rhodes was suspended indefinitely last week by Air America following remarks she made at an appearance for KKGN where she called both Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro "f---cking bitches."
Elsewhere in a linked article it says that she's the number 1 rated host in Liberal talk radio. I don't get why you'd drop someone like that because they dropped the f-bomb off the air at a non-company funded event.
I mean, especially since that would generate lots of free publicity, it's not like when Howard Stern did something on the air and it warranted a fine from the FCC.

Teenagers taking part in the so-called "choking game" - which is similar to erotic asphyxiation - use dog leashes, bungee cords wrapped around their necks to reduce the amount of oxygen to the brain. Not this again, we went through this dumb craze ten years ago and kids used to do similarly stupid things when I was a kid. Why don't these tw@ts just take drugs like normal people.

No no, this is better. It's Darwinism in action, and there is little to no effect on the rest of the population. When kids take drugs, on the other hand, that can negatively impact society, if only by providing income for organized crime.

Operation Beijing storm: rockets target rain (http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSL1040011820080411)
BEIJING (Reuters) - China is preparing an arsenal of rockets and aircraft to protect the Olympics opening ceremony from rain, hoping to disperse clouds before they can drench dignitaries at the roofless "bird's nest" stadium.
Officials believe there is a 47 percent probability of rain during the August 8 opening ceremony and a 6 percent chance of a heavy downpour and will try to drain humidity from clouds before they reach Beijing.
More than 100 staff at 21 stations surrounding the city will have 10 minutes' notice to fire rockets or cannons containing silver iodide at approaching clouds in the hope of making them rain before they reach the stadium. Three aircraft will also be on stand-by to drop catalysts to unleash rain from the clouds.
