Only California schools, but that's messed up already.

the article (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=58130)

So the Governator passes a bill in order to not offend gay people...in lieu of offending mothers and fathers...and straight people?

Hey, straight people, we no longer matter! Didn't you know? The only way to fight injustice towards one group is to direct that injustice to another group! It's all in the second law of thermo-political correctness!

The bills signed by Schwarzenegger include SB777, which bans anything in public schools that could be interpreted as negative toward homosexuality, bisexuality and other alternative lifestyle choices. There are no similar protections for students with traditional or conservative lifestyles and beliefs, however. I thought homosexuality wasn't a matter of choice..but moving on from that...arrgh..what can I say that I haven't said before. Its wrong..just plain wrong, if the Army has a don't ask don't tell policy so should schools, if someone wants to reveal their "lifestyle choice" to all and sundry good luck to them, if they choose to keep it private even better. So if I'm interpreting this correctly it'll be illegal to disparage homosexuality, but not illegal to promote gay pride or gay rights (which are essentially political aims in that they seek to improve the lot of gays through empowerment and legislative change). Pfft just sit the kids down at the kitchen table and tell em your beliefs and that the educators aren't always right, that this is a political move.

"Mom and Dad" as well as "husband and wife" effectively have been banned from California schools under a bill signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who with his signature also ordered public schools to allow boys to use girls restrooms and locker rooms, and vice versa, if they choose.
Sex Ed. moves to Kindergarten, just like in South Park.
"Arnold Schwarzenegger has delivered young children into the hands of those who will introduce them to alternative sexual lifestyles," said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families, which worked to defeat the plans. "This means children as young as five years old will be mentally molested in school classrooms.
At least this usage of the term "mental molestation" is apt.

I'm more concerned about the word "Other" than I am about the word "Choices", because the only thing left involves animals.

This is just fan-freaking-tastic, I thought the idea was to slowly remove homosexuality from the genepool!

I don't have anything against sexually impaired people mind you (yes that was a joke, I am being a bit silly) 2 of my friends are bisexual (which scares me a little because they are always hanging about with me!) but seriously, wouldn't it be better if we could slowly introduce a lifestyle where people like John Barrowman don't exist?

I hate that guy so much right now...

Okay, what in ****'s name..?

The article itself is just the rants of bigots who want to misinform, lie to, and deceive anyone and everyone they can.

Even the article states that specific wors were NOT included in the law.

It's not even a PC argument. It's just bigoted ranting.

"Parent" is the generic word used.
"Mom/Mother" and "Dad/Father" are gender specific terms for individual "Parents". They do not, and never have, referred to the sexuality of the individual "Parent".

As to the CLAIM that schools will be required to allow students to use bathrooms not assigned to their gender, it would more than likely require a specific policy. I haven't read the law itself and, quite frankly, based on the bigoted ranting in the article, I seriously doubt the truth of the claim as written. It is not likely that a multistall bathroom or lockerroom would be unisex. In a large facility such as a school or hospital, unisex bathrooms or showers are almost nonexistant with more than one stall. Some small doctor's offices may have unisex bathrooms with one stall, but they don't have a large population passing through their doors.

As to the claims that any law would affect private schools or individual churches, it's not likely. And if it did, filing lawsuits to overturn the law would probably be successful.

But the arguments presented in the article imply that only THEY are capable of "family values" and everyone else mentally molests children is just typical of the bigotry and hate and ignorance that has been used to allow so many children to be mentally, verbally, physically, and even sexually abused by a great many "moral superior" individuals and organizations.

I'm not even talking about "tolerance". I'm talking about those who live their lives "morally" living their own lives and letting others live their lives "morally", even though they don't share the exact same "moral values". Both can live honorable and ethical lives without having the exact same "moral values". Neither side is going to see the other side as "moral" for one reason or another. So which side is truly "morally superior"? The side you're on.

Mmmm... to me, this article is as fair as the "full digital porn scene in Mass Effect" story. Or the "(violent) video games are murder simulators" story. I won't take it too seriously. Plus, it's getting quite old (october 2007, as someone's already noticed).

There is a reason World Net Daily is referred to as World Nut Daily. They routinely twist news into stuff like this. For more crazy, see Chuck Norris's column on that site.

Now I realize why people believe they actually have a point when they complain about the 'liberal media'. They read this and they are confused that other news sources would not pick up on it.

This doesn't make them any less retarded for reading it to begin with but yeah.

I used to do work for a guy who thought O'Reilly was the best presenter on TV and thought he was a real hard hitting journalist. I have to confess I just glanced at this article before posting, broke my own rules again..smacky ..smacky:o

As far as "liberal media" is concerned, I had a media teacher(and self proclaimed conservative) who made a good point. What he said is, journalist tend to have liberal leanings. That kind of mindset is usually what draws them to the profession in the first place. The people that control the media (gatekeepers) are almost all your stereotypical old white male Republicans. This results in stories that are fairly balanced, with a few stories that stray to the right or left(more to the right, because they get more leeway with the gatekeepers.).

Of course that is MSM. WND is a neo-conservative amature hour posing as a Christian news source.

On a related topic, I have argued with people who identify anything that presents facts in an objective manner as unacceptably liberal. It doesn't even matter if the facts actually support a more right-wing perspective, the sheer fact that they're not presented in a form that exclusively supports the right and ridicules the left is apparently evidence of liberal bias.

Blame Fox news. They seamlessly blend right-wing commentary into actual newscasts. That, combined with an inability to critically appraise information in a news climate of instant publication with largely unchecked sources, and people unable to distinguish the difference between "agrees with me" and "unbiased".

High schools desperately need some form of media analysis classes. Colleges/Universities ate the very least.

Old news is old, and it did not pass.

Though I must say....

"With this decision, Gov. Schwarzenegger has told parents that their values are irrelevant. Many parents will have no choice but to pull their children out of the public schools that have now become sexualized indoctrination centers."

"Shame on Schwarzenegger and the Democrat politicians for ensuring that every California school becomes a homosexual-bisexual-transsexual indoctrination center," he said.

Fear mongering for the loss. I hate people like this, those who use..."If you teach your child to accept the evil gays as normal people, it dooms them to a life of Buttsecks!" People fear what their small minds cannot control or understand. This is just another example.

This clearly shows that Off-Topic is where it's at. yo.
