Been playing through COD4 on its highest difficulty... which is causing me to rant

Checkpoints - When are we seriously going to stop using this antiquated save system? It was designed by sadistic game designers to inflict pain on people without leaving a mark... COD4 on highest difficulty on "heat" = me repeating the barnyard scene 50 times

Enemies with 100% accuracy from sniper distance with smgs and assault rifles - *glares at crysis & farcry*

Unskippable intro logo's - How many times do i honestly need to see an EA logo?

Advertisements - We won't be using core two duo's in 2142 AD... 'nuff said

Crappy clliffhangers - Cant we have new stories in sequels involving recurring characters instead of making 3 part epics which are fairly generic (crysis)?
(note: FEAR doesn't apply)

8 hour single player campaigns - I miss the good old days when a game took me more than a day to complete... *hugs Baldur's Gate 2* (yes, i acknowledge that oblivion was awesome in terms of length)

Crappy keyboard controls in console ports - *snaps Resident Evil 4 in half*

Nazi's - Oh god! Stop beating the dead horse... i cant even recognize that bloody pulp anymore! (or at least have a two year long moratorium on them, barring zombie nazi's and cybernetically enhanced SS loons)

/end rant

You're not playing it right.

Or you're playing the 360 version.

I consider that monolith called the xbox 360 to be a cursed device, holding the souls bill gates has feasted on, so i must be playing it wrong, or not playing it at all...

Just start playing it ironically. You'll like it unironically over time.

Dude I have an undead horse.

That might explain why Xbox 360 players run away screaming when I approach them with holy water.

In general FPS games don't belong in games. That and anything with the name Tom Clancy on it.

Now I have had to send my 360 back twice. Each time they send me another on and it still sucks. The can't fix the buggered up units. Its quite sad in fact. I paid for my extended warranty and all that good stuff, much good it does me when all I get in return is more broke crap. Gots lockup issues, artifacts on the screen, it looks at me funny. I dislike the whole 360 thing, I wish I had never gotten mine.

The fact that you don't wear pants at the same time might also shed some light on the running.

Yeah the lack of pants would scare some. Me on the other hand I would laugh at the lack of pants and the thinking holy water would banish me :D. Not all us 360 players are the devil, just most.

But I still maintain the good outweighs the bad. I will however be buying the first cheap second hand PS3 I find, balance is important:D and I'm a big Gran Turismo and Resident Evil Fan.

Checkpoints :Annoying much prefer a quicksave system but consoles spurn them so ports don't have them.....

Enemies with 100% accuracy:depends on the Enemie, but they should have the "sight" of a average human/player.

Unskippable intro logo's:beyond stupid.
Advertisements:don't mind them, prefer odd comical adds but frankly I do not mind them in small ammounts.

Crappy clliffhanger endings: yes people a "story" must end......

8 hour single player campaigns:but Halo 3 has a whole 12 hour campaign*pukes*.
Sorry if its not at least 15 hours its not getting my money.

Nazi's:I don't mind nazis they haz style*lick*

My big rant o the day FPSs on consoles should still have full button mapping and sensitivity tweaking even if they are made for the console, its like they make these things so bad just so the FPS nazis can show how big their....skilzs are.....

Sorry if its not at least 15 hours its not getting my money. I got through single player in COD4 in about 6.5 and didn't feel cheated, it depends how action packed the time is and how much buggering about you have to do to reach your goal. I sometimes like that "on Rails" feeling in a shooter, especially if theres a lot of "theatre" going on around you.Needless to say I'm not a tactical shooter fan, I just like making things go boom! RS Vegas nearly drove me insane "I've fragged both entry points ,why are you all still alive!" An RPG that is less than 40 hours won't get my cash.
As for save points, we don't need them, I'm playing Lost Odyssey at the moment and honest to god the save orbs are sometimes 45 minutes apart. Having said that though you do get to retry battles if you die and there's little shortcuts back to the action if you do get sent back to the level start so its not all grief.Checkpoints in FPS are doubly stupid, I know If I made a mistake, I don't need to be smacked on the hand for it.

Screw amount of time in a RPG, if 50% of teh item is grinding or putting up with "teh suck" equipment, then no thanks.

To be honest I haven't played an RPG recently where grinding was necessary, I don't play WOW or FFXI, the last game in which I had to any of back tracking and grinding was FFX. Did you play LOTR :The Third Age? that was the exact opposite, you'd level up after nearly every battle..it was possibly less fun than grinding because there was no sense of achievement. Grinding can be made less tedious if you take out the linearity factor, Elders Scrolls is mostly grinding but because you can vary your activities its less of an obvious issue.

grinding is grinding is grinding, I find boring equipment/skills and pace more annoying tho.
FF12 boring equipment, broken class tree and wishy washy skills.

DQ8 slightly grinding and boring equipment.

Kotor is a "short" RPG it was not bad, infact its only down side is the content amount, in fact I wish they would let you grind alil mroe on it....

Yeah I liked KOTOR, I like to Queue up attacks and powers, adds more strategy to the combat, (not that I don't like the JRPG turn based systems, they make you think on the fly) Mass Effect was good in that respect, the interface is a tad clunky but you can rapidly assign the attacks, healing etc, for the most part it works.

*huggles you and crys* aint it so? its like planing out attacks is evil for RPGs now a days...like "ZOMG RTS wez dun want dat herez"....

FF12 has 4 fatal flaws for me Skill layout, equipment, gambit preset list, battle has 2 mode full on self masturbating and maticuluis turn based, no real happy medium...or ways do battle plans like pincherand all at once attacks.

Really FF12 is the best of the 3d ones for the most part but good god it plays either on pot or canine...no happy medium 0-o

That's funny I'm always on the lookout for a cheap copy of FFXII, I came to PS2 late in its life cycle so I've missed a lot of classics, Dragon Quest, Suikoden, Xenosaga..to name a few.

its basically like FFX - weapon customization with bigger levels + random loot + live "visual noise" action combat.

Its faster paced than DQ8 but not as fun....

its a shame FF12 Int version is English voice/jap text..... it has the "fixed" classes in it...why i got it I dunno..... square...you suck...... how much would it have coasted you to sale a jap/eng dual disc int version for 20$ more...in the us... I would put up with the design BS more if I didn't have to hear strained English voice work....
