My apologies, mods, if this story is already out here. But I already tried a search on the forums.

Be careful who you frag. Having eliminated all terrorism in the real world, the U.S. intelligence community is working to develop software that will detect violent extremists infiltrating World of Warcraft and other massive multiplayer games, according to a data-mining report from the Director of National Intelligence.

The Reynard project will begin by profiling online gaming behavior, then potentially move on to its ultimate goal of "automatically detecting suspicious behavior and actions in the virtual world.

It sounds like just another case of pork-barrel spending.

SO now having a little too much fun doing bombing runs in WoW could land you in prison?

How much do they really want to demonize gamers?

Good luck in the RP servers :D
Where does role-playing a human-hating troll end, and real terrorism begins?

Pfft..does any of this tricky cloak and dagger software actually work anyway, or will 5 year old kids be flagged on the database like they were on the airline security system a few years back. Seems like WoW would be a less than convenient way of networking or communicating, I thought Jihadists were encrypting communiques in .jpg files and MP3's , or just calling each other on pre paid cell phones like regular people.

This will be immense fun once the Warhammer 40K MMO comes out.

They'll set up guilds with the name "Flowers by Irene".

Imagine - they don't even have to role-play when they take the Inquisitor job class!

I think I could see where gold sellers are terrorists. They certainly terrorize General Chat.
