Seems like it exclusively looks at WoW players...
This new documentary by Pure West Films follows MMORPGs and how they are not only changing the virtual world, but our own in real life.At first I thought "oh great, another show about the dangers of MMO addiction". But it doesn't look TOO bad. It's 7 individuals and how MMOs affected each differently. The one guy is addicted, but others find love, gain empowerment, etc.

I saw a similar doco, called Gamer Revolution http://www.cbc.ca/doczone/gamerrevolution.html
It covers similar territory to this one which is an Australian production and is VOD, which is thoughtful of them

WOW just doesn't ring my bell for some reason, I know not everyone who plays is a sad case but it seems a lot of em are. GAH! dont even get me started on Second Life, chat room with graphics.
It all comes back to why people play games, if you feel you need to escape from your life then you have a problem anyway but I guess WOW and Second Life are cheaper and less harmful than booze or drugs.
Personally I play games for fun and because T.V is so awful these days, but you're just as likely to find me reading a book or doing stuff on the net, its all a question of balance.
25 years ago my parents were convinced I was Ill in the head from hanging out at video arcades and because my brother and I would spend half the weekend playing Dungeons & Dragons and listening to Metallica.
Heres an example of a positive outcome from gaming, this is the website of one of my brothers old D&D pals who's still "Living The Dream" so to speak http://www.manningimperial.com/ Good on ya Craig!

Actually it looked like they had that one other MMO too...Lineage or whatever? The one that's free to play and has over 10,000 expansions.
EDIT: Guild Wars.
