sorry but i'm rather psyched about this game for the amount of time its name has been floating on the internet.

heres a video of the game in english and the voice actors (about time). To be honest, GU is going to blow the original 4 games out of the water. I'm rather hoping this will be one of the few anime based games that break the "for the fans" mold that most other anime based games have had.

God I have been waiting for this game for a long time. It looks so much better than the original 4.
No no no!
There are too many good games I want to play coming out at the same time...
.hack in two days, FFXII next week, SMT: Devil Summoner in...-14 days...

i know i was forced to choose between FFXII and .hack >_<. I choose .hack though cause i see that being harder to find in a few months. The original 4 games just kinda vanished after the 4th game was released and FF, i can still find FF8 and up in some stores brand new.

I got all four games on release days...
My wallet is still recovering.
But I sure as hell don't regret it.
I guess I'll be going to EB this Thursday...

I just bought this game and I have one thing to say... Did Jack Thompson write this game? Seriously, the game is full of online gaming addiction news stories, as well as a news story at the start of the game talking about 3 kids who played The World who took over a school.

i took note of that part actually in the game. The particular area that your talking about, i have no clue as far as its meaning right now, probably something that will be fully revealed later. But it is kinda creepy considering that it would be Jack's ideal situation of why to ban games XP. Good thing there isnt a game thats remotely like the fictional one they portray in the .hack games.
(already beaten it, now currently doing the sidequest and decyphering deeper meanings and that Terminal Disk
WoW will be like that. Give it time.

You think? You really think there'll be chainsaw weaponry in a future WoW expansion?

Well......WoW does have guns. So I guess it can't be that much of a stretch.

chainsaw blades would be awesome :D
And WoW is about the closest thing to what the .hack world portrays =p. Minus chainsaw blades and data drain.(well alot more things but you get the idea)
.hack really needs to make a true MMO (and i dont mean Fragment). The set up for it could work as an MMO with a bit of tweaking here and there. The keyword system would be pretty good for leveling areas just as long as they add a larger assortment of dungeons and fields. GU's combat system could possibly work in a real MMO setting cept I'd toss out the 3 person party in favor of larger parties and stronger monsters.
Soul Drain could qualify as data drain, whatever that is. And I'm pretty sure there's some seriously chainsaw-like swords in there.

While The World would be a pretty cool MMORPG, there would be a need for a LOT more quests to make it interesting.
And a better PvP system... What the hell is a PK nowadays? PvP is PvP and most people live for it.

I just picked the game up yesterday along with a new headset for my PS2 and Bully(yeah I know...I wanted to see what all the bitching was about). Anyway, I was in love with the first series of these games and I am already in love with this one, Chainsaw swords FTW! Honestly whoever thought "Hey lets add a chainsaw to that claymore" is a ****ing genious. I have only played about 3 hours into the game and I am just past the first dungeon after Kite (Tri-Edge) uses the good ol (See: annoying as hell) Data Drain on me >.<, bastard.

Chainswords are pretty much a classic Warhammer 40k weapon, so I don't see what the big deal really is...
If it was a good ol' Choppa, then we'd be in business :P

Soul drain is nothing like data drain. Data drain essenitally ***** your world and storywise, literally ****s the player up too. Haseo just got lucky in the cathedral and only suffered an extreme level down (he went from level 133 to level 1 in about 5 seconds) vs everyone else that gets hit by it, essientially has their character wiped and their rl player goes into a coma. Data drain isn't one of the normal skills of the game you can just use freely either or gain through normal progression/leveling up if .hack was a real MMO, hell if it was a real MMO I highly doubt Data Drain would be available since it would be that powerful minus the coma thing and if it ever was put into a .hack MMO, it would be SEVERLY powered down. I'll post a video of data drain here for those that dont know what it is.

Data Drain was awesome, but I thought it was only the Phases data drain that put people into comas, as well as the Bracelet being able to protect the wearer and his friends from being deleted by Data Drain

Kites bracelet is capable of putting people in comas as well, all of them are. Just Kite wouldn't maliciously do that though. But his bracelet did protect him from getting the full effects of the drain though.

well this is interesting, Demon if you haven't transfered your quaratine data flag to GU, you might want to do so. The final boss takes on the HP (dunno about stats and level) of your character as you left him in Quarantine.
