Mr. Valentino,
Looking down at the careers Topic, I'd like to see info on being a Story Writer for Interactive Media such as video games. Clearly, such a job takes more than just being able to write in a straightforward linear fashion. And while many in the industry focus on advancing the technology of audio and video as well as gameplay, I would think there would be work on educating either current linear style story writers or new writers in the area of new story writing techniques needed for writing stories that must operate in the vastness of interactive media.

And careers for those types of writers who go beyond the linear style writing, beyond the story tree style writing, and into the world of story webs and chaotic probabilities for story outcomes would also be nice to see as well.

I know some people on the forums have shown interest in becoming a writer for the game industry, so here's a link that might help:

Just a warning to all interested in the Game Writers SIG for the IGDA: Be prepared for a lot of e-mails. Granted they are all interesting and well written I was personally not prepared for the huge quantity of e-mails. But it is most definitely an excellent source for information and advice.

Thanks for the links, and this very thread, even. I have been looking, literally scouring the net/google/game sites/etc. for this exact information for months and couldn't find it anywhere. It's actually one of the reasons why I joined the ECA, in fact, so getting this info is pretty darn perfect!

Quite surprising that there are actually so many resources for potential game writers on the web, in fact-- anybody that's actually made it in the industry have any advice to a guy with a BA in English from UFlorida, one major Associate Editor position on my resume, and a year of Quality Assurance (Proofreading) experience?

But seriously, muchas gracias for the great game writers' aids. :)
