Tonight the EvE server are going down so that CCP can deploy the new 'Trinity' Expansion.
The time for EVE to evolve from beautiful to gorgeous is approaching! Trinity, EVE Online's newest content expansion, will be deployed on Wednesday 5 December, commencing at 0200 GMT. Tranquility and the EVE forums will be unavailable for the length of the deployment, both are expected to return to service by 0200 GMT on Thursday 6 December.

Trinity is EVE Online's largest expansion to date and centers around a new graphics system. EVE players with DirectX9c and Shader 3 capable graphics cards can choose to upgrade their clients to Trinity's Premium Graphics Content. Players without cards supporting DX9c and Shader 3 technology will play EVE with the Classic Graphics Content, but will be able to upgrade once their system meet the Premium Graphics Content requirements. To see a preview of EVE: Trinity, you can download the 102M HD1080p EVE: Trinity Trailer (http://myeve.eve-online.com/download/videos/Default.asp?a=download&vid=157) or the smaller 64M HD720p EVE: Trinity Trailer (http://myeve.eve-online.com/download/videos/Default.asp?a=download&vid=156). Other features may be found on the EVE: Trinity Feature Site (http://www.eve-online.com/trinity/index.html).

I'm so excited by this update :D

Yeah, finally, they won't be running on DirectX7 anymore.

Its also means I get a break from doing combat patrols for a little while. Its been a very tough week in game.

u sure? no1 i know had that problem last night.. and i cant see a thread on the forums about it. Edit, ok just seen the news item :/ oups thats a bit of a mistake then :)

I know its probably a little early to say, but the patch seems amazing stable considering its size and scope.

Although, stabed up NPCing abandons that run from my poor little Ishtar look rubbish no matter which version of the gfx you use ;)

ALERT: READ THIS IF YOU INSTALLED TRINITY BEFORE 4 A.M. GMT

If you have Windows AND upgraded EVE Online: Trinity Classic before 4 A.M. GMT to Premium using the content upgrade path then you MUST read this before doing anything else.

PLEASE DO NOT REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER
Check the root directory of your hard drive and see if you have a boot.ini file. Boot.ini file is normally hidden so you need to click Tools : Folder Options : View and select "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" to be able to see it. You can also check for the presence of this file by clicking Start : Control Panel : System : Advanced : Startup and Recovery : Settings (third button down). Windows will alert you if the boot.ini file is missing.
If boot.ini is still there then you are not affected and do not have to take any further steps.
If boot.ini is NOT there then please click here: FORUM LINK
We have removed the faulty updater so anyone installing the Trinity Expansion now will not be effected.

A new updater will be available shortly.

We apologize profusely for this error and are working on offering more extensive help those that have a non-working Windows PC, so please stay tuned.

Cool, never thought I'd ever meet another frigate specialist.

What's your race and focus? Cov ops, cepter, AF, or gonna give it all up for the E attack frigate?

I'm currently very adept at flying a stealth bomber (Caldari: Manticore), though I may transfer my focus to E attack after flying one if they live up to my hopes for them.

Whole boot.ini thing bites, just fixed my machine and my roommates. Have to wonder when web dev became complete computer repair man, since I seem to be stuck fixing everything around here.

I'm currently a dedicated assault frigate pilot who is moving himself towards covops then to electronic attack.

I fly a MEAN ishkur. With the new cloaking effect i'm gonna lose loads of coverts as i sit at gates cloaking and uncloaking just to watch the new gfx goodness ;)

Neway, i'll have EAS 3 later today, and then its just a case of buying some... 70mil atm, is a little expensive... but thats what you get for being an 'early adopter' i guess :D

70 mill for a non faction frig... man I hate how much t2 **** costs sometimes, honestly CCP was ****ing stupid in how they deal with t2 ship prints. Why not just increase the mineral cost or the the complexity of the components?

Hehe, cepters were that expensive when they first came out, now look at the price ;)

Letting any1 invent them is a good thing.. price will quickly fall i would think. Expect to see them fall in price over the next few weeks as ppl start churning them out :)

Anyway.. i fly faction fitted rigged cepters so i can probably cope with 70mil for a fig that you don't really have to get within 70km of ppl to use properly.

1.2bil for a widow though, i hope that comes down a bit.

My alliance doesn't have alot of the big ship support, we rely on ewar to turn the tide in the big fights, EAS's will only make our tactics more effective.

We had a gang out last night.. and for the first time in a long time we had a load of scorps. Which is great :)

My alliance is mostly Battleships or HACs. I tend to feel pretty worthless beside them all even though I've spent longer training skills directly related to the Stealth Bomber than some of them have been alive in game. I also tend get blown up if anything targets my very fragile Manticore. There is no way to tank that thing either. The one plus side is that if I see a frig on the other side, it is so very dead with the pinpoint cruise missiles. 3 launchers * 600+ damage per hit = dead frigate. If I can get 2-3 volleys off on a cruiser it's pretty hurt too, but they like to target you back once they see you're a bomber so you generally have to declaok, lock on, fire, cloak, move, repeat.

Haven't actually flown the scouting cov ops so I can't advise you on that one, but the above is very true for the bomber. Stay hidden, pick your target, make sure it's clear to strike, execute your attack, and hide again. It's almost like Assassins Creed in space. Ok... maybe not :P

Trouble with bombers in general is the horrible lag between firing and doing any dmg. I was playing some games with a 20man Red Alliance gang that was camping a gate the other day. They had several t1 frigs with them, and i fancied my chances of killing them with 1 volley (skills + faction ammo), anyway uncloak, sensor boosters on, lock a rifter and fire.. aligning, watching a raptor charge out to me.. waiting waiting waiting, rifter warps :( so do i :)

I warp back in to a spot i have saved, cloak and move again.. pick another rifter fire again this time the missiles hit, but just before i hit another manticore decloaked 60km off me and damped me, i lost lock and the missiles did no dmg. Which upset me lots.

They are great at anti cepter duties in a fleet though.. i had my crow volleyed into 10% hull a cpl weeks back by a Maniti, that was fun.. >i've got a point on the mega.. only a frig on me and hes miles out.. erm have 10% hull i'm warping out :D

We did kill a carrier once with a stealth bomber gang though.. 20 of us in bombers and cpl frigs, took 30min or something to get him down, but die he did. That gang was popping BS in a cpl volleys though.. frightening volley dmg.

Just got my E attack frigate yesterday. I'm now flying a Kitsune and I have to say the ship pretty much rocks. With the bonus to jamming strength and 5 mid slots I can basically keep 2 ships completely locked down on my own. At least until the ships start getting towards battleship sized and start having enough strength to have above a 50% chance of resisting the jam. Remains to be seen how well the E attack ship does in actual PvP though.

Downside to all this is I lost my manticore in combat and got podded, with my clone in empire space. While being in empire means that I was able to get the Kitsune, still would've preferred to stay out in 0.0 with my corp, especially because it's gonna be a pain to get back out to our outpost.
