So like wheres the mothr fckng Turn based option.
I have been told by so many people that have "played" it that it dose not ahve one...yet half the review sites say its in the options did they rename it as to confuse people or what because if theres no turn based option for the game theres no point in me playing a "live action game".

Live action game:A game thats so horribly paced you can only manage to control 1/3rd or less of the action taking place like a very very poorly thought out RTS.

I don't like it that much either. If you are going to make your battles real time then they sould have just used the "Secret of Mana" battle system instead.

And the turn-based game wasn't incoherent?

actually it was pretty solid up until 8,X and X2

Actually... Because you don't like a game doesn't mean the implementation they used for anything is bad. FFX redefined turn-based RPG by allowing dynamic party switching, which is TOTALLY awesome. While Breath of Fire 4 allowed it, it wasn't as important as it is in FFX, or used to the same extent.

MMMmmmm *yawns*
Ok mabye not so much FF8 it's batttle system was solid just other thigns were screwy,FFX was watered down BOF4 was aculty neat the way they had their party system setup FFX kinda draggy since they still clung the old 3 member rule I have always dislike the 3 member thing..I miss the old first and 2nd line for charatcers to stand it,when others stand behind mebers in the front of a group they were protected a bit more it made rear attacks and scissor attacks more interesting.

Final Fantasy XII is also going to be released as a Limited Edition set thingy, right?

What's in the set? Anyone know?

The only thing I don't like about the new battle system is that its slow, but other then that its okay.

Getting the game in a couple days.

Anyways, most of the reviews I've read indicate something interesting:

FF12 is NOT real-time. It's a heavily disguised version of the ATB system we know and love from 7, 8, 9, and X2. And just like those games, it features the "Wait" option, which pauses the battle while you're in the middle of a menu selection.

Oh, and FF12 Collector's Edition ships with the metal tin, the History of Final Fantasy thing, a few FF12 trailers from both sides of the Pacific, an art gallery, and (this is the kicker) interviews with the developers.

It would've been awesome to actually see a developer's commentary in the game, but eh. That would've been hard as hell anyway.

Mweheheh. *waits for FF12 to turn him into a Final Fantasy zombie yet again*

About as painful as reading your posts? Or more? Probably not more, because it actually look like a good game with a decent combat system. What are you really mad about? Is it that the game is not EXACTLY how you pictured it should be in your little fantasy world?

Played it yesterday, controlling the various character is easy and intuitive, and the gambit system simplifies the combat a bit, which could be viewed as a good thing.

The story if pretty darn good up to now and the characters are fairly cool. Maybe you should have waited til the game was out before whining...

Silver, if you can praise a Final Fantasy game, they must have done something right this time.

If I praise ANY game, that means they've done something right. God, I see almost all the new RPGs (my roomate buys them all), and I have to say the recent weeks have been quite good (Hack GU, Phantasy Star Universe, FF12, Tales of the Abyss)... I am surprised.

Seconded.

I got the game. It does not play on it's own. You can choose to control all three party members or control one an fully (and when I say fully, I mean FULLY) customize the other two party members actions.

So if your game self-masterbates, it's because you set it to do so.

Though, I'm totally loving the game! So far the battles haven't gotten dull at all unlike the random encounters of the past. It's fun and quick to battle! (Though I still haven't got ahold of how to use Quickenings...).

So not as much as a option to go into turn based mode but you have to set each character to turn based mode....ok....well that clears that up.

can you pause or slow the game any ?

Why would you want to slow it any? It's already a bit too slow for my liking... I wish it had a higher pace, in a way. Just so the battles would be a bit more... hardcore.

You can pause the game using the Start button.

The fighting also pauses when you bring up the battle menu. But you can set it to Active if you don't want it to pause the game.

There's no turn-base. Hell, you can cancel an attack midway though it building to execution if you want.

If you're still iffy about the game, just rent it first and play it. If you enjoy it, buy it, if not, don't.

But to me, I'm having LOADS of fun! No sarcasim, I really am!

Bought it Tuesday, and enjoying it.

The battle system, IMO, is like a combination of Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger's systems.

yaa........grandia 1 still handles distance better...and distance actually mattered on SOM,unlike this hog pog where you have a uber generic range for the party.....

if you turn on wait and turn off gambits......guess what that is...TURN BASED.....

and from what I have played its a hog pog draped in Square's "innovation"

I cant find any sublety or nuances in distance it feels very generic.....only got to play it for a hour or so ,the skills feel no better no worse than FFX how is the equipment going for you?

Do the regenerating chests start to get annoying?

Well, if you go that route, then you gotta act fast.

And regenerating chests annoying? Endless supply of Gill and Potions, dude! Exit, re-enter! Exit, re-enter!

you get a near endless in FF4/FF6 just by having towns stocked with hidden items.....ah well I'll get around to it sooner or later *L*

Rare drops are one of. The chests are still there, but they're just Gill.

Anyone else notices some sort of political commentary in the game? Specifically commentary towards the Iraq War?

The scene on the Levithan really stuck out. When Ashe meets Basch and they talk about the invading Dalmasca. The empire invaded Dalmasca to bring 'peace' to Dalmasca, and Ashe and the Resistance are considered insurgents to the Empire.

Spoliers if you haven't gotten that far, by the way.

It feels more like comments on war perioed not jsut one dimly thought out one.
