The Romantics Sue Over Guitar Hero

It appears that The Romantics have decided to sue Activision over the cover version of their song (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=16342) "What I Like About You." The problem isn't that Activision failed to get the proper licensing, they did, it is that the cover is too closely resembles the original.

Can you believe? They feel that since the cover sounds too much like them, it infringes on the group’s rights to its own likeness.

If they get their way, the expansion pack it comes bundled on will have to be recalled and then re-released without the infringing song.

Sucks for Activision.

Instead of being glad their song is being listened to and enjoyed by a whole new generation, they sue over it because it too closely resembles their original song? They should be honored Activision got it right.

they're just mad because any schlub cover band can sound just as good as they did years ago.

I'm not suprised by this at all, I expected that one of these 1 hit wonder bands who are currently playing guitar with an upturned hat to make money would bitch and moan because GH is one of the most profitable franchises around today and they feel they didn't get a big enough cut.

The song isn't all that great and isn't much fun to play. They should have put in "The Mob Rules" or a Judas Priest song in it instead.
