The Secretary Of State of C,M&S is in charge of the department- currently this is James Purnell, in our Labour government.

Traditionally, the party that comes second in the general election forms a "shadow cabinet", or issues its MPs with the roles they would be taking on if they were in power. For the Conservative party, that's Jeremy Hunt (http://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/jeremy_hunt/south_west_surrey).

To that extent, this thread will cover the actions of the DCMS as one, rather than having one thread for each secretary.

Today, Hunt recieved a written answer to his question about how much of the Treasury's £150million R&D budget has been allocated to the games industry.

They are allowed to tell him! It's just that the games industry isn't one of the things on the Big List Of Things that get recorded.
