For me it's on the way, but what about you folks? From what I hear Johnny better rosin up his bow and play that fiddle hard, because the devil's down in georgia and that song is f'ing hard.
Just looking at the tracklist on the official site is pretty cool. Slow Ride to start things off, sounds like a plan...

So I played through the first echelon of songs this morning. Damn good game, wish I could play it on 360 because they obviously put a lot more effort into the graphics for that system. GH3 looks worse than GH2 to be honest.
But that's ok, really, because the songs sound awesome! No more getting all pumped up to listen to Dio and then being let down by it being a cover-song.
It seems like the notes are even closer to playing the actual parts on an actual guitar now.
I had some trouble getting the wireless controller to sync up with the system, but that always happens. It did work before the game was done loading, which is the important thing.
There's much much more unlockable content, which is greatly appreciated by me.
After using the Red SG the Kramer requires a bit of adjusting time. It's heavier and the fret buttons seem a little more stiff. They moved the select/start into an odd position: Just below the whammy bar O.o . I have no idea why they made the neck detatchable, it seems stupid and doesn't add much to the portability of the guitar.

As far as the looks, the 360 version looks a whole lot better than the PS2 version, in my opinion though.
The Les Paul for the 360 is a bit heavier, and the fret buttions feel alot stiffer and seem to force you to apply alot of pressure for them to recognize it be pressed down compared to the X-Plorer.
The song selection is nice for the most part. But the charts (especally on Expert) seem to focus more on difficutly than fun, I.E. Raining Blood, and multiple bonus songs. And the final battle is extremely difficult.
And as for the Boss battles. Unnessecary, and are more or less luck dependent on what power ups you get, not skill in beating the other person.

Well, I just nabbed a game-only copy of the 360 one (Had 2 Xplorers) and I must say I'm loving it so far.

There is an element of luck, but also strategy. I've found it best to activate my attacks when they're about to hit the stars to get their de-buffs.
Agree'd, I've seen the 360 version and if I had one I would SO get it for that system.
As it is, I do enjoy the hell out of it. Did the game on medium, and I gotta say I had a harder time with Raining Blood than I did with that dragonforce song.
Going to try and start Hard mode tonight.

Personally, so far, I don't like Guitar Hero III that much. I like Guitar Hero I & II much better. It might just be me but I found the songs in I and II much more fun to play. The songs in Guitar Hero III are great to listen but not as much fun to play. The songs at medium are repetitive and at hard, harder than they were in I or II. Like why those non HO/PO notes right in the middle of a series of HO/PO? The games seems more difficult for the sake of difficulty. I can't wait for Rock Band.

III wasn't made by Red Octane. That explains everything.

Harmonix made Guitar Hero's 1 and 2. 3 was made by Neversoft.
Red Octane just made the controllers.

Red Octane makes DDR pads as well, so they aren't new to music/rythim game controllers.

It wasn't made by Harmonix you mean. That's why I see Rock Band as the true successor to Guitar Hero II. Playing-wise at least. Also hope that there aren't any Axe go-go girls in it.
