Bungie and Microsoft Corp. today announced a plan for Bungie Studios, the developers of Microsoft’s “Halo” franchise, to become a privately held independent company, Bungie, LLC, in which Microsoft will hold a minority equity interest. As part of this transaction, Bungie and Microsoft have forged a deep and long-term development and publishing relationship focused on the continued success of the “Halo” franchise. It is also the intent of both parties to expand their partnership to include new IP created and owned by Bungie.Wow, I never expected this to happen. I guess somebody convinced M$ execs that Bungie works best when it doesn't have deadlines hovering over it's head...

I hope this means Bungie can branch out and cover more than just Microsoft platforms.

Bungie specifically stated that that was one of their goals now that they've split. Hopefully that means they get back to their Mac roots...

I'd love to see what they can do on the Wii.

Bungie has done quite a bit of good work with the Halo franchise, though I'm not a huge fan of the series myself. It will be interesting to see what they can do with systems like the Wii or the PS3.

1 is great,2 is so so felt rushed,3 the same, so all in all they need a break from Halo.

That's funny, in the same week Bungie splits from MS, EA pwns Bioshock and Pandemic. It's like the cycle of good publishers turning to **** or something.

At least that makes mass efect PC bound right....right??
LOL
so EA buys bioshock or dismisses(keepin the IP but refuses to back a game) system shock again?

Ok long time no talk guys, decided to revert out of lurker mode and back to active member (again)

I'm going to put my 2 cents into this topic, but MS aquired Bungie back when Halo 1 was still being hailed as one of the best FPS to come to a PC/Mac back in 1999-2000 area. Now that the Halo series is done (aside from Halo Wars) Bungie and MS decide to split. If you ask me I think that this move was made along the lines of
"Ok we're done pumping the halo franchise, so we're going to let ya go but keep a close eye on ya incase you come up with another great idea so we can make you our b**** again."

I hated the way MS stole titles to pad its line up I wish the titles got a automatic port to the PC even if tis vista I could stomach it more...

I wonder if this means marathon will be making a comeback to the PC?
