I tried going to the main site and I got a page saying the site had been suspended. Whats up with that?

Yay for being /.ed
Methinksies Dennis needs to move away from shared hosting to a dedicated server. GP is a major player in gaming/political news now.

yeah, that article was picked up everywhere...
we moved GP to a higher-capacity (but still shared) server about 6 months back, so this has been happening a lot less. I wanted to be on a dedicated server, but the hosting company doesn't offer that service yet.
I like their customer service (Bluehost) but this issue is an important one, which may necessitate another move. A dedicated server would help a lot.
Also, I included at least 3 pdf's in that article, which I should have hosted on my podcast server so they weren't adding to the bandwidth drainage on the main.
Anyway, we all came through, and I thank everyone who notified me that we were down.
How much bandwidth do they give you right now? I think I have a terabyte of the stuff lying around somewhere.

Let me voice my faith that, at the least, he will clean up after himself... and his... uh... guests.

Heehee ^__^
Well, there are three captains on ship. We just cleaned up after a high-bandwidth project we were mirroring for free crashed completely, so I think there's room.
Everything is set up to restart automatically when MySQL/Apache chokes, so you won't have to call us for that, I guess. The only thing that could happen is the datacenter monkeys tripping over the wire again.
I highly suggest you look around first. This is kind of a hobby thing, so it's not a PS3-hyoog server god. You might be able to spend slightly more than we did and receive something that can weather the /. effect a lot better. But if you need services really really fast for transitional purposes I guess ours would be enough.
And I also suggest you install those helpful anti-raep extensions to Wordpress. Yaknow, caching and stuff. Makes them go down a lot less sooner. It costs a lot less processing power to serve a static html cache of an article than generate all the PHP all the time.
Here it is (http://mnm.uib.es/gallir/wp-cache-2/)
EDIT: Set cache expiration to 9999999999999. The plugin automatically deletes articles from the cache when you update them, so this won't cause issues. The only time you will have to clear the cache is when you change the blog's layout.
