Wasn't there already a Law & Order episode like this. Jack Thomson talks about it in his autobiography.

You know, whenever I played the Sims or Second Life, somewhere between having to pee and dancing, I always felt like going to get a kitchen knife and going on a killing spree.
That's ridiculous. How does Law & Order still have an audience after all the story lines they have exhausted and recycled? So us video gamers take away some of it's audience and lower ratings by not watching the same garbage. Does that mean that they have to fight dirty?

yes there was, it was an episode about an fps game played by certain elitist players and two of the kids (both guys if i remember right) decided to take it one step further and started killing their fellow players in real life.

Did you forget the tagline from the original series? Ripped from the headlines...
Before you all go into a tizzy about Law and Order hating video gamers, I will point out that none of the other SVU episodes involved games at all... Except that one with the retarded kid that played video games, and everyone thought he was the killer, but it turned out the mother was.
I was curious, so I found it:

That was one twisted episode. The game that was being played looked very much like Second Life, called Another Youniverse. Clever. However, it never blames games for the kidnapping & violence that happened. None of the gamers were kids, though, the players were all adults. It did make the gamers look like crack addict idiots though.
Much of the game scenes are just things that can't, or won't happen in real life video games- at least not yet. A stripper's club, and an underage xxx club, free virtual sex, all with 5 million users. I hate the way these TV shows make everyone look like they have computers with performance from 5 years from now. And of course on things that don't really exist, even in the case of Second Life.
That said, the show didn't focus on games, more about the detective work. It wasn't half bad, for a seemingly recycled Law and Order episode.
