(A) Buy/Sell/Trade used video games. Good chance of finding something old that I might have liked for a reduced price. And a cheap insurance for replacement should I really like it and something goes wrong with it.

(B) Stuff that is too high up to reach and/or see or behind the counter where I can't see it. (I'm near sighted.)

(C) A couple of computer databases in the store, maybe linked straight to GameSpot or someplace similar, that allows me to look up games so I can find out more about a game I've found in the store while I'm there instead of waiting to look it up at home. Some stuff with boxes that have UPC symbols could be easily scanned for information while other used games without the UPC symbols could be manually entered at the database.

-I like being able to offload games I don't play anymore for store credit or hard cash, being able to find titles I liked or wanted at a reduced price, discount programs and free magazine subscriptions are nice, and in cases the staff know a good amount about the games they sell, extended warranties are nice as well.

-I don't like it when the staff don't know jack **** about the product they are pushing at you, and that once you get a PC game, you're stuck with it.

-What I would improve, the return policy on PC games, and possibily the checking system an above poster mentioned.

1- Not much right now with the GameStop takeover now that I can no longer find anywhere else within 30 miles... I suppose free stuff, but now employees hoard it all.
2- Pricing of used titles, condition of used titles, how games get opened and gutted for display copies and then sold as new without any sort of discount, and then we can't prove its new to return it since labels have been removed. The people who work at stores. Getting told I need to preorder title X as they will only have enough for preorders when Target down the road has 30 sitting on a shelf.
3- See my hate list and fix it.

1-Nothing
2-Small PC Game selection, no more 10$ pc game bargain bin, not even in Frys!!!!
3-take over gamestop, rebuild their stores offer not just console games, but sell out on any kind of PC games I can sell in the stores. I'd also sell processors, vid cards, ram, all the stuff you need to build your own computers... provide a better tech support service, like Best Buys Geek Squad, but far better, far far better.
Each store, can even sponsor a clan, or a group for a limited time, or a full length of time (like sponsoring a clan lan game?)
Employees get trips to gaming conventions. Also, pamplets on how the ESRB works, and why your 14 year old son shouldn't be playing that M rated game.
List goes on, do you wish to learn more?

EB games is probably the biggest retailer in Aus', they're OK to deal with, if you trade within a reasonable time you get a good chunk of the sticker price back in credit. The staff also know their stuff for the most part and there's a
good customer loyalty scheme which gives you 10% off pre owned games and 10% more trade in.
JB Hi- Fi are usually cheaper by a few dollars but the staff know nothing, when I bought my copy of The Orange Box from them the girl said ''Oooh, I saw this game reviewed on Channel V, is it true you can play over the internet?"
Not to say that all female clerks in these stores are hopeless, the girl at EB where I normally go knows a frightening amount about games.

1. Not a whole lot. They are simply another channel to buy games through. I normally don't sell back games unless the game is crap. I like to collect.

2. Again not a whole lot. BUt the biggest thing is the lack of classic games in Gamestop. Once they bought EB there are few places besides local chains that carry anything older than PS2/Xbox/GameCube.

3. Carry more older games and PC games.

In Oklahoma we have a franchise store called GameXchange. They have other locations around the US. But I really like them. they have everything possible. All things Sega, Atari, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft. But they do not carry PC games. I am sure if they could get ahold of one they would carry Ittelivision and other strange systems that never succeeded in the market.

That is where I go for my used gaming needs as they do not carry new games..

That's like Game Traders in Aus' only they have rentals and new games as well, they still stock all the old formats, not so many old PC Games but a pretty good selection. They're a tad more expensive but the guy at my local one is about my age (40) and its good to have a yarn to him about the good old days.

I like being able to go into a specialized store and be able to ask specific questions and get specific answers, or at least a "I don't know, but I know who can answer that." Many non-big box shops have employees that are frank about games. I had one employee tell me that a game wasn't worth the money (as he played it and found it to be god aweful) and gave me suggestions for games that are better and worth the cost. He didn't say it in a condescending and mean way, he was just providing valuable advice.

I walked into a Wal-mart once and this poor shopper didn't know what the difference between a XBox 360 and a PS3 was for their child, and the Wal-mart employee had no clue either. After the employee left, I walked up to him and explained it in plain English so he could understand. I also don't like shops that put their games behind glass cases. I'd rather have them remove the game disc and allow me to pickup the game's case so I can see the back of it, without having to hunt down a store employee.

-would you change about video game retail stores to make them AWESOME?
Like what others said, having a database where I can look up where certain used games are being sold at would be nice.
