Apparantly its ok to hack and mod your cell phone(or in this case iphone) but if you mod your xbox wii or ps you get the stick taken to you.

Bwuahahahaha!
Okay, but isn't it illegal for T-mobile to actually provide service to an Iphone? I hope not.

Illegal? No. Because T-Mobile only cares about the SIM card, not the phone it's plugged into. So wiping the SIM and reprogramming it to be "unlocked" means that you can register it with T-Mobile.
Not like Apple can sue T-Mobile for breach of contract, considering they didn't sign anything...

Although apparently AT&T is calling it illegal (naturally), saying that it's tampering and violation of agreements... They say that re-selling a modified iPhone is counterfeiting, and a breach of terms.
However so far they've only threatened legal action against websites reselling hacked iPhones. Sites detailing how to do it yourself have been left alone. Probably because phone unlocking is legal under the current exemptions to the DMCA...

So basically you are hacking the phone to use another service you are paying for?
