Hey all, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, and it's mostly just the result of me being sick due to the heat, but I was watching anime and playing games and something occured to me.

I tend to play games that have themes or ideals that I relate to. I find this true of media in general, so, I just wanted to see if it was just me or if you guys do the same, and if so, what games do you relate to. So, for starters, I'll give some names of games or media I'm a fan off and why.

1. Naruto: While you can make whatever comments you like about the show itself, one of it's messages, especially early on has always stuck with me, and it is the idea that People are not predestined, and that fate doesn't have any hold. Specificly, in naruto, the charecter of Hinata, and Naruto himself, show that no matter what you were when you were born, you can Change, no matter what anyone else belives.

2. Gear of war: Redemption plays a major role in this games mentallity, most notable in Marcus fenix. His journey to find redemption for both himself and his fathers name is one of the main reasons I loved the game, though I wish more of the story and background had been presented.

3. Dead Rising: This one appeals to my morbid sense of humor and enjoyment of games that give me freedom and choice to do what I like and have fun.

4. One Piece: Luffys loyalty to his friends, despite his stupidity and bone headed nature made him my fav, cause no matter what, regardless of whats in his way, when his friends are in trouble, he will fight to the end for them. He views them almost like a family. It's the same thing my family belives in, and something I hold to and will hold to till my end.

So, aside from those above, most games I play in general are simply fun action games that help fill in the void of action that my normal life has, but still, I find that games often are more impactful to us if they speak to something we belive in, and wondered if anyone else had seen the same in there game selection?

Feel free to ignore my self reflective post if you like, but I thought it might be interesting to see if we buy games that relate to us or if that was just a thing I did.

The unknown enemy, and the "tragic Triumph"? Freespace 1 and 2. Even the greatest victories are a massive loss, and you never know quite what the enemy will throw back at you.

Especially in 2, kinda left you paniced when that second Savanthas came at you in the nebula. You knew you were in trouble then.

I tend to go for strategy games where I can dominate the opponent. On occasion i play an RPG of some sort. But mostly I am too busy to game much.

These days, I prefer games that allow me to play the role of a dictator and/or God. Civilization IV, Sims 2, and various other strategy/simulation games would fall into this category.

Not sure what this says about me, but reading Machiavelli's The Prince was what inspired me to acquire Civ4 ;)
