The game is a third-person shooter. The player can switch to first person view mode and utilize a cross hair to shoot enemies. Vincent has an HP Bar, as well as mako points (MP), which resemble magic points. There is also a value for Level, where Vincent can level up and increase his statistics by completing a chapter or dying during the chapter and spending points accumulated through play before continuing. Vincent can also choose weapons from a large library, primarily guns. The option of transforming into his Limit Breaks is also available, the first being Vincent's first limit break, the Galian Beast, and the second is Chaos. However, one cannot use a Limit Breaker for Chaos; it is automatically given in the final chapter of the game, Omega and Chaos.
One of my favorite games. I've played it on PS2, can't say I've gotten bored of it. The settings, the story and plot, also with the action scenes, make it one good game.

This is one of the rentals I'm waiting to come in the mail. Maybe tomorrow. But yeah, good game...

The game was alright attempt of SE to make a shooter. It wasn't the greatest thing from SE by a longshot. I found the cutscenes were too long, and some just pointless. And I was actually skipping them.
Though, it was fun, especially for someone who doesn't play shooters.

It IS a Final Fantasy game after all.

Yeah, true, but it's the genre. I can take it in RPG FF's, since, afterall, story is a major aspect in RPGs. But in TPS's? Not really. I just wanted to shoot things.
if the game was not a Final Fantasy and if it didnt have the characters from Final Fantsy VII in it no one would have bought it.
it is only just above average and game wise is barely worth 5/10

Oddly enough the only good version of a song is set to this game. All the other versions of it are all craptacular.
