Sony is considering a PS3 with larger HDD

16 April 2007 9:36 by DVDBack23
Sony is considering a PS3 with larger HDDA spokesperson for Sony has confirmed that the company is considering production of a new model of the PlayStation 3 that would include a larger HDD.

This latest comment again opens up the rumor mill that began last month when Sony filed an FCC application that includied references to an 80 GB model.

The spokesperson, Satoshi Fukuoka said the decision is "in line with our strategy as we had planned to choose models based on consumer needs".

"[the company]is considering introducing the model with a bigger hard disk" stated Fukuoka as well. He declined to comment further.

With the recent discontinuation of the 20 GB model in North America, it will be interesting to see what is in store for the PS3.

Ok this is stupidity at its best 80GB 120GB WHO GIVES A FLIP the consumer is better off adding his own drive at sale prices not "premium" prices frankly they should drop the 60GB and put 20GBs in the average user is not going to need much more than that by dropping to a lower HDD and dropping 150-200$ the PS3 would become allot better looking to the consumer, god this makes MSs dcking around look good DROP THE PRICE the rest will follow....god this corporate stupidity is annoying me to no end....

(if a mods need to and we know theres acouple that jsut need to feel free to change the title)

Oh, you used to be able to add your own hard drive, until a firmware update killed it.

I only actually read about it in some Kotaku post that talked about what was then the latest firmware. 10 or so commenters lamented that it killed the external hard drives.

the problem comes in 10 months when the price has not changed the problem comes when they offer the 80GB model as a 2ndary production not a replacement of the 60GB and the price wont change for 2+ years.

they are doing everything they can to ignore lowering the price.

Well, considering how crazy they are, you could almost CALL it an obligation for them to make another bad executive decision.
