But now they have gunslinger and ninja classes, and im looking for a tut on them. Course tis hard to do during a night shift as everything is super blocked.

They FINALLY applied that patch?!

That was coming for like...2 years?

This is part of why I don't play that game.

I played it throughout the Beta and for at least 2 years in pay to play, before getting sick and tired of waiting years for updates Korea had recieved.

I grabbed a free trial of the game, it looked like generic Korean MMO that has SNES graphics. Well, it had that and not to mention horrid gameplay. >_>

But in 2004 (iirc) it was pretty neat.

I've been playing for quite a while now, and I can tell you how to level a gunslinger, though the ninja is beyond me. First, choose which weapon you would ultimately like to use (Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Gatling gun or Grenade Launcher) Then go one map west and one map north of Prontera, where you will find Horns, Rockers, Stainers, ChonChons and Wolves. To begin with, fight the rockers and chonchons until you get some decent skills. (Bullet shower or Aiming or the like) When you feel strong enough, attack stainers and horns until they go down relatively quickly (About 10-15 shots). Then attack wolves. Wolves pack aggro, so only take one if there are no more around. These will give you plenty of XP for now. Once you get 143 Hit, go one map north of Einbroch and attack geographers. It helps if you have some skill points invested into snake eyes for extra range. They tend to heal eachother, so again, attack loners. These give roughly 2700 base and 2000 job (1000 for the slinger) XP per kill (on a 1x server). These will take you to a much higher level. Once you get a flee rate of about 208, nothing will be able to hit you there, so you can just spam kill everything. Get high enough off those, and you'll know how to use a slinger. Hope this helps!

The server I use is free, with more features, less people (less lag), and higher rates (11x) the site is http://gro.game-host.org/ragnarok/news.php, and comes with the entire client in the download.

My server is rebirthro.

Most private servers have new features that the standard stuff doesnt have. For instance there is a bank that gives intrest or some server only items as well as items that are a bit gone, like the golden thief bug card.

The thing i like about this game is that it doesnt fall in the more western mmo things, like there is only one way to level a character. Take a wizard for instance, the normal build is to take lighting and ice. Using one attack you can freeze an oppenant, so that the wind attack deals even more damage. Alternitively you could also go more fire and earth and just burn away anything with increadable damage.
but since it cant 1-2 shot most people, they tend to use wind/ice. But a card upgrade allows you to ignore freezing status to catch those wizards off guard. Downfall of this though is the fact the wind attacks will still do more damage.

There is also the ability to get a card to compleatly ignore magical attacks. downfall is that you also ignore magical buffs/heals and your sp cost is doubled. The magical classes still have abilites to stop these people. Highwizards have a 'magical' skill that bypasses the card, and sages have the ability just to wack them with a book.

Mostly play Poison Potions, my alchemist.

I do have a donation character who is a pally and hunts my hard items.

Why are the free servers called illegal? What makes them illegal? Just asking because a friend of mine wants me to play this games and he is on a free server.

They are called illegal due to the fact that gravity didnt set up the server. And since all these people are playing the game and gravity isnt getting the money for it, they are upset. Though if i had to play on the gravity server, i probally wouldnt play. Mostly cause then i dont get the options as i do otherwise.

You have a pally? What build? I have been thinking of trying a 'sader, but I have no idea how to make one. My first melee char is my taekwon, and they are nowhere near the same as any swordie class.

So yeah I tried installing the game last night and it wont install. Does anyone know if this game is compatable with Vista?

dunno, vista is new, RO is kinda old. Try seeing of there is a compatablity mode in vista like XP.


As for my Pally build, the server's donation allowed him to compleatly max out. Makes him useless in WoE, but great for finding MVP items and the such.

Normalaly, i make my pallies sheild builds.

Hmm... I was thinking of trying a dark-slayer... Oh well, thanks anyway. Kinda cheap that he's fully maxed though, even if he isn't allowed in WoE. You can just farm MVP's for cards. Unless I've read that wrong and I'm just talking like an idiot. Still...
