So I was watching threw SW again and came to a new line of thought tis a better movie than AC and AC is a better FF movie I am perplexed and disgusted perhaps I have hit my mental limit on this train of thought, what do you all think?
------------------------
While I am at it lets go over all the Releases of FF movie/anime wise theres the 2 or 3 part OVA and FFU the 26 ep TV series.

I didn't care for FFU it meandered to much and was to pompous or tried to hard to tale a tragic tale.
Not seen the old OVA but I recall it being typical adventure style.

Spirits withing was a technilogical demo, but at the time it was nothing if not a bad move by square to step so far out of the FF world to make the movie.

Advent children was exactly what square should have made to begin with.

I dunno if you step back and look at them without knowing anything about the games they both meander about equally and are missing huge bits and pieces...

it could be worse Hollywood could have helped AC be more "realistic" LOL but really I see what SW was tryign to do as a movie its more whole than AC as a FF movie it dose a ok job,I think it was directed poorly.

I thin it was a good movie, it just shouldn't have been named Final Fantasy.

I remember when I was in like, 8th grade, just after they announced SW, and I went to the site and somehow came across a ton of white-papers about all the different technologies they developed for the movie. Not a word of it made any sense to me then (and probably wouldn't make much MORE sense today) but it was definitely cool stuff.

I've never seen either though, so I've really got nothing else to contribute.

Spirits Within just had the bad luck of crash-landing in the deepest part of Uncanny Valley.

AC was a lot less 'disturbing' in that sense.

Two totally different movies, so not unlike some of the FF games. I don't compare the two. I liked both for reasons of their own merits.

Okay Advent children didnt have chocobos. (who needs them when you got bad ass motercycles.) But unlike SW it did have Ultima, Summons, even limit breaks.

SW on the other hand lost all the fantasy aspects of the game, and futhered the sci-fi portion. The thing about it though was near the end or rather half way, it seems to hurry everything along to finish the story line. Then it ends with the lovers sacrifice and an eagle flies by. It left me witha wtf? kinda feeling towards it, since the evil bad things where suddenly defeated in a compleatly new way that is not really there, but something kinda whipped up on the spot.

AC its low points for me was the not having much of Red XIII or Cait Sith air time. Then the wtf of bring back Seph mostly for fan service. Actually now that i think about it, only Cloud, tiffa and the people witha mother complex had the real air time.

Maybe if AC had the bearest minimum of a story-line, I would agree with you guys. But it doesn't, and they both sucked--SW for being melodramatic and almost emo ("I'm giving my life for the cause!" "yeah, me too!" "but I can't live without you, so I guess I'll die too.").

Well what I am gettign at they both are not great but not bad,I am not really comparing them to each other but how they do what they do and how they are tied into the game series.

Both are about as equal to each other in many respects, while they are different they still leave allot to be desired.

for me AC its to short and poorly directed while SW is off the wall and messes with my mind.
