Xbox 360 Elite Officially Announced

Xbox 360 Elite Officially AnnouncedMicrosoft has finally put all the rumors to rest by officially announcing the black Xbox 360 Elite.

The new 360 will go on sale in the US on April 29th with the retail price of $479 USD.

The new additions are as follows:

- An all black finish with matching accesories such as wireless controllers.

- IPTV capability

- HDMI output

- Detachable 120GB HDD (The HDD is also available seperately for $180 USD)

- A data transfer cable which will allow users to copy game saves, and other content from their other 360 HDD.

Those that buy the new 360 will also get a free Xbox Live Silver Membership and 1 month free Gold Membership.

Note: As many of our Afterdawn readers have noted in past news articles, the new 360 will have the same 90 nm chipset that run in the current 360s. Officials say the new chipset will be available in Premiumm Xbox 360s in the fall.

the new 360 with the OLD CPU and simi new chipset with HDMI and the 120HDD is 480$

I like this nonetheless. They're still going to give the Premium the HDI and the 120GB HD. That's pretty awesome.

I suppose I can wait with buying a 360 until fall.

yes its good in time however MS could have done this better they are doing things as slopppy as ever....

So $ony is not a Hero? M$ has proved they love the "tight tights" as much if not more than "P"ony,who built thier console around a movie format that have their tentacles in hell the shepple didn't even notice the crappy BR movies with Mpeg 2 video,of coarse now "P"ony has corrected that and going to re-release the older BR movies soon so you can buy a total of 95(35+40+20) for that movie you love so.

Of coarse M$ is reinventing itself and forcing you to sell you soul when you use vister ignoring XP being everywhere ,putitng M$ Live on vister to pad vister sales.

They crippled the HDMI port

"will not output multi-channel PCM audio over HDMI which is no different than what occurs in Core and Premium systems.

The Elite will support the HDMI 1.2 specification. When connected to an HDTV set with HDMI input, the Xbox 360 will automatically select the appropriate video output resolution up to 1080p. Users will not be able to manually force resolutions however."

1. Prior to this announcement, no one knew there was more than one version of HDMI.
2. Prior to this, no one would've given a ****.
3. Almost no one has an HDTV that supports HDMI 1.3.

well this is HDMI 1.2 spec minus the Hdef audio part of it.

So, in other words, it's just the DVI signal.

i guess the moral of the story is dont buy a new system until they release the elite version. or the lite. or the sp. in the end i really dont care i can go buy the 120 hd and its not how it looks but how it plays that counts.

Funny thing is you can put any laptop sata drive into the 360 the formating of the drive is the key to be able to use it.

altho I am unsure how to format it and no one has yet made a simple tool to do it
