C&C3 is so awesome, I'm going to go back and play through each and every Command & Conquer game just to delay my exposure to the sheer awesomeness of C&C3.
You CANNOT be ready.
I'm so glad they didn't go with the Blizzard-style campaign where every faction gets a bit of the progressing story. It's good old-fashioned C&C style.
Obviously, I didn't even look at the GDI campaign.

For a second I hated Tim Buckley more than usual, as it appears he accidentally told us everyone at Nod is a Scrin.
Then I realized he's refering to some stupid show I've never seen before. =/

JESUS DUDE WTF?!
Thanks for ruining the game for me, guess I'll just use these disks as coasters now.

Just in case you weren't joking, King Nintendroid is refering to the fact that a great deal of Battlestar Galactica is about who is a Cylon and who isn't. By the way, it isn't some stupid show. My mom gets so confused by science fiction that she asks migraine-inducing questions like "Does Han Solo owe money to the Ferengi or Jabba the Hutt?" or "Wait a minute... are you trying to tell me that Jessica isn't Duke Leto's wife?!". This season on BG, they pulled off a starship maneuver so incredibly awesome that my mom leaped off her chair and shouted "OMG did you see that this show totally r0x0rs!!!!oneoneone!!"
I'm not kidding. She actually shouted "One! One! One!" at the end of the sentence. Come on, just try and tell me that isn't evidence that BG is the most awesome show ever.

No, they aren't, at least as far as I know. But Tim was implying it here. Ajay saying "the others" made me think of the Scrin. Then I realized it was about that lame Lost show he played in.

How so? I recall having loads of trouble with Nod's Subterranen APCs in Tiberian Sun, until I simply scattered Light Infrantry and Disc Throwers over every inch of my base. Is there a specific advantage to the Scrin?

I miss subterreanian units :(
The Scrin can win using THREE units, never once having to use ground units or anything else. All they need is their two huge battleships, the shield upgrade, and then they just plunk em in the middle of the map, inbetween a ****load of lightning towers and an Ion Storm. No amount of anti-air is going to bring that down. Occasionally they may feel the need to build Buzzers to flush people out of buildings, but that's it. What's up with that anyway? The cheapest unit of all time can kill people in buildings in one second.

Ah, even Red Alert 2 had one-shot, one-instantly-demolished-garrison weapons... the Iraqi Desolator and the Telsa Trooper and some others I can't recall at the moment. As I said, I'm going to go on one heck of a C&C marathon before I touch my sacred Kane Edition, but I'd bet three harvesters of blue tiberium that those lousy Scrin aren't as infallible as you may think. Trust in the Technology of Peace.

Oh, I did, trust me :(
The difference is that these things come in swarms. Taking out one desolator with a sniper near or in the building is not a problem, but one of these swarms may reach you before you have a chance to get it. And don't forget: these things cost 200 credits. You get a swarm of three or so of them. These are so easy to rush infantry with it's not even funny.
Then of course, their shielded space ships arrive, generate an Ion Storm, which boosts their attack power by a gazillion percent, and they use their 'build a really powerful tesla coil instantly, wherever you want" support power.
Sure, Nod can crush them if you attack early enough, but I had to deal with GDI dogs assaulting my base as well.

HOLY CRAP! Worst f'n bug ever: I play the last GDI mission through and drop the bomb, get the bad ending. I hit restart and play it through again and don't drop the bomb....bad ending! Then, I start the mission again from scratch...SAME DAMN ENDING!
I found out that there's a bug and if you ever in your life played the last GDI mission and dropped the bomb it will always give you the bad ending.

I'm curious, how awesome is the music in C&C3? Is it anywhere near the level of the soundtracks for Tiberian Dawn/Sun? I'm probably the only person in the United States besides Frank Klepacki who actually has put songs like Mechanical Man, Pharotek, and Act on Instinct on a CD so I can hear them in the car. :D

Why didn't you just buy the soundtrack like a normal person?

I got the Platinium Edition of Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2, so I have the CDs for those two. The soundtrack for Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert weren't sold around here to my knowledge. I think that one of the Red Alert/Red Alert 2 packs came with the soundtracks but I was unaware of it at the time. Anyway, all of them are on iTunes now, even the one for Generals... which anyone can extract from the game free of charge.
Oh yeah, most of the music for Tiberian Dawn comes in two versions, one with voice and/or sfx samples and one without. Also, some songs have two different names, even the ones without two versions(?!), such as Mechanical Man aka Target. Odd, to say the least.

You probably ordered it from the Westwood catalog when it was still around. You lucky dog, you.
I'm trying to find Intarweb confirmation, but my favourite gaming mag contains a quote from Joe Kucan saying "I haven't paid entry fees to my local disco for 15 years, and my doctor gives me a 75% discount on all treatements".
I always knew that man had Aura of Overpowering Awesomeness.

Everyone single interview with him that I've ever read has confirmed his Aura of Overpowering Awesomeness.
I just beat Command & Conquer for the first time last night. I'm amazed by how well the game stands up over the years, minor annoyances like the Harvester AI (or lack of) or the agonizingly slow wait for credits put aside. I was also pleasantly suprised that you have not one, but four different variants of the ending to choose from.
Spoilaws
The Scrin ending kinda makes everyone else look stupid. I mean, GDI spent all that time destroying towers that basically would've just cleaned all the tiberium off the face of the earth, and Nod spent all that time defending a giant harvester that takes away the Sacred Green Crystal
Though I'm pretty sure the inevitable expansion will be awesome.
