Install linux, void your warranty?!

So this woman install unbuntu and HP said she couldn't get her laptop's Keyboard fixed because it voided the warranty. O.o Luckily in this case a PR person helped out (note: not a PR person from Sony obviously, they would just tell her that Americans are cheap and English are worth more or whatever) and got her a replacement.

lol, back to the question, there isn't much that you can do, software wise that would void a warranty, i think HP were just trying to save some $. Installing ubuntu shouldn't make a difference to the warranty.
