The French Quebec news network LCN is having a "gamer are addicts" series this week it seems... As usual, gamers are not being depicted as balanced individuals but as psychotic drug addicts that cannot control their urges. Some of the articles even claim that playing video games is really bad for you because it "doesn't allow the gamer to develop his interpersonnal skills."

Link to the Gamer are addicts/gamers life things at LCN (French) (http://www2.canoe.com/archives/techno/dossiers/2006/10/20061007-070430.html)

I guess Quebec will become like the rest of the world and will start blaming games for everything fairly soon.

Edit: There also seems to be a section on how the wives/girlfriend of gamers say that "Women don't like video games". I love those kind of generalization.

I linked it into the Correspondents private Forum, hopefully one of them can read French and will pick it up.

Thanks Silver.

Video games taught me how to pretend to be a woman on the Internets.

If that's not interpersonnal skillz then I don't know what is

while we're on the subject,i pmed dennis about a story involving games in the new york times last sunday. it was a positive and informing article having to do with gaming and south korea. because dennis takes millenia to respond to pms(understandably so) can one of the mods tell him about it?

Sounds cool. I could do a review on the thing, but right now I'm sorta busy trying to figure out where to go out in Indianapolis while I'm in the States :P I was sorta mad when I saw the damn thing, but LCN has taken the Fox News turn lately (sensational, pro-PQ news, rather then Republicans though).

That's true. If not for MMOs you would have never been able to become a drag queen. Or at least, never have been able to be a GOOD drag queen.

My wife plays WoW with me when she's not too exhasted from watching Emma or packing up stuff (we're moving next week).

Wait...does that mean all my RL friends are imaginary then?

Why OF COURSE! Didn't you know that gamers are all guys in their twenties, that need to hide to play at night?

I remember when Liz Wooley posted on GP once and kinda flat out said your online friends aren't real.

Don't think I've seen that many "O rly?"s in one go ever before.
