I don't know if you heard about this story (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6410061.stm)
A study from British School of Motoring (http://www.bsm.co.uk/) says that "27% of motorists aged under 24 admitted more risk-taking on the road after a gaming session".
At this point, I don't know more than what BBC says... and BBC doesn't say a lot : I don't know which games were tested, nor how the study was conducted (and indeed, it's much more a poll than a "real" study). And I found nothing on BSM's website (but I didn't search much, actually).
I don't play racing games, but I still do quite a few risky things.
But so do people older then me and who don't play games.

Of course they won't tell us what games were tested, can't risk a gamer revieling the lies and exagerations of a news report.

It must be a slow news day at BBC. It just doesn't sound like a real study.
I would say that most 24 and under are usually risk takers. Safety consultant Robin Cummins sounds uneducated using the word 'indisputable' when showing gaming affects driving. The statistics they use are cheap & biased, cobbled together to make VG's look bad.
Those 200 young people that are killed every year because of speeding may have nothing to do with video games. It's a combination of hormones, drugs, and inexperiance. Someone at the BSM doesn't like VG's.
Dave Perry's comment is the smartest thing in the article.

True. But note what the BBC reporter had to say about him :
"The multi-millionaire from Belfast, who is currently designing a driving video game, said behaviour was affected by how drivers felt while behind the wheel, not before they got in their car."
Disqualified even before saying anything.

Then it's biased.

Doesn't make me a careless driver. I'm actually too careful, which can be bad.
